Water hoops feel kinda strange when doing tricks. If you have a few layers of tape it makes it heavier (electrical tape is cheap)

Yeah, I'd avoid any sloshy weight within the hoop. Once you get off body it throws off the natural momentum in a big way, especially with verticals. Extra tape adds a surprising amount of weight & you can use the cheap, slick stuff with just a racing stripe of gaffers & still have a lot of grip.

The only way I'd use water is if you think it's only temporary-- i.e. just long enough for her to get the hang of waist hooping-- & once she's got it down, drain it out again.

Some women I have known have used rice or marbles inside, but it's not as balanced as using a heavier tubing or adding extra tape... but it will do the trick. Most times people want a little extra weight when learning and then they will want to "shed" it after they get the hang of the hoop.

Another thing you can do is add multiple connectors, just space them evenly. I use this method to make a hoop out of all my scraps and it makes them a little heavier, then you can add extra tape too.

I have heard also of people putting a thinner tube INSIDE the hoop.
