I would say the size/weight of the hoop is the issue. If anything, try a 40" or a 38"... When I was first learning to chest hoop, I felt like piveting my feet/turning in a circle in the direction my hoop was going was very helpful. Eventually, it will become second nature. :) Happy hooping!

I agree with Sarah, especially with the turning in the direction that you are hooping. It will give the hoop more momentum and keep it going and it really helps. Also try chest hooping with that arms out first and then try popping your arms in and out so you can get used to it. Or try neck hooping and bringing the hoop down and try and keep it going. Dont worry you will get it! Chest hooping with arms in a.k.a. shoulder hooping was so hard for me when I first started too! Once you get it though it will just click (:

Like Sarah said, if you pivot with the hoop it will help. Also remember to try and keep your arms really lose. When I first started I'd always have very stiff arms and that would cause the hoop to fall. If you're bringing the hoop up from your waist, remember to keep moving your whole body the same way while it's going from waist to chest. if you stop moving your feet (so that you can concentrate on getting it to your chest) you'll lose the flow your body is in and it'll be harder to keep it up.

Good luck! it was a challenge for me when I first started too

Awesome thanks so muc for ur help. yeah i do stop my feet when i try to chest hoop. so yeah and yeah the weight is an issue igot a lighter hoop so it is working sorta for me LOL again thanks so much lovely hoopers.

I just learned how to chest hoop!  What really helped me was the advise I received from a friend.  She told me to practice chest hooping while kneeling.  It helped to isolate the chest and back movement needed to keep the hoop up and stable.  Make sure and get the chest hoop down kneeling then standing.  Then you can move to the shoulders.  Definitely turn in a circle while practicing the shoulders:)

I'm three years in and I  am just learning to chest hoop.  Instead of going smaller, I've gone bigger to learn.  The hoop that I'm using to learn comes up to my shoulders.  I'm finally able to keep it moving around me almost at will.  It is made of 3/4 inch 100 PSI tubing so it isn't that heavy but it is a lot bigger than my 42 inch hoop in diameter.

Thanks all this has realy helped me out i am slowly getting it LOL Gonna try out new LED hoop at Chalice Dubbs this March up here and see hows it goes!!!!!
