Hi! I'm hooping for a month now and I practised on chest and leg hooping but I can't seem to get it right! It also hurts like hell. How long did you guys practise before you could chest and leg hoop?
I viewed lots of tutorials on youtube so I know how to do it but I just can't, haha!
With love,
Steffi
Permalink Reply by Steffi on August 7, 2012 at 1:06pm Thanks! I will. And yes sometimes it's really frustrating when it hurts or just doesn't work out.
You too keep up the good hoop-work!
Permalink Reply by Steffi on August 7, 2012 at 1:16pm Yeah, I noticed. I downsized mine too and today i made myself a lighter one. Tomorrow I'm gonna try that one out. Hopefully it works better :)
Permalink Reply by Angelie WV on August 7, 2012 at 3:03pm Leg hooping took me a few weeks. The hoop fell about 40,000 times before I figured out how to keep it up. Now it is a natural movement. Don't despair! Chest hooping was probably a couple weeks, too. In both cases I had to take a break for a couple days due to bruising. It is not good to hoop over bruises if they are hurting you! The thing about hooping is, there is always a trick you can practice on one part of your body while the other part heals. :-)
Permalink Reply by Brittany Rae on August 7, 2012 at 5:04pm i picked up basic leg hooping relatively fast. mastering any tricks with my legs has been much more difficult than tricks on other areas of my body, though. i can say the opposite about chest hooping. it took me months to get the hang of, but once i got it, flowing from there came pretty naturally. just stick with it, don't get too frustrated with yourself, and if you're getting hurt, you can try using a lighter psi hoop or hdpe if you feel comfortable hooping faster. other than that, maybe take breaks for a day or two between practices, which i've found can help with regrouping in general, regardless of pain. :)

I used to belly dance so chest hooping for me came pretty naturally and I picked it up within a week (I tend to be a fast learner). My biggest issue when starting was that everytime the hoop hit my boobs it would hurt so bad that I would drop it, so what I did was wear 2 sports bra to make sure everything was "flat" that way I got more "padding" on the front until I got used to the hoop hitting me :)
Good luck!!
Permalink Reply by Keseygirll~ on August 7, 2012 at 10:15pm ive been hooping for a month too, and i can hoop on my chest now and also my legs, though i cant do my legs for an extended period of time. just practice that "shimmy" thing a lot, it really helps you get your upper torso moving when the hoop gets up there. just keep at trying to chest hoop. try spinning while doing it to keep the momentum up. youll get it, it will click for you! :)

Permalink Reply by Shasta Lee on August 8, 2012 at 9:17am Hey Steffi!
I took a video of myself hooping about 2 months in and I was able to chest hoop BARELY. it was pretty stiff still and awkward.
For my leg hooping, that came about 4 months in. It was a lot harder for me to learn.
However, for one of my friends she learned leg hooping way easier then chest.
Don't fret not being able to do it, you're still sooo early in your hoop life! so early! take it as it comes, and it will always come more natural that way.
*Pointer for chest hooping - keep your arms/ shoulders/ chest as relaxes as possible!
