They are called "Quick Wicks" and they are available from http://www.hoopdrum.com/. I saw a set of them being installed on a hoop and used for a burn on Saturday night, and the owner was quite happy with them. It is great that they can be moved from hoop to hoop, and the fact that the cable spine has some flex in it seems like it would make them less likely to snap if the hoop takes a hard hit. I was impressed with them and would like to get some myself!

It's true, girl!! I really want to make my next fire hoop, though! That quick wick method seems pretty cool:)

yea, I made my LED hoop with parts from PRODMOD. I kinda rushed through it a bit (I was wayyyyy too excited!!!!) I'm afraid that if I try to build the fire hoop I will screw it up and seriously injure myself or someone :-/ Chrisha... you should tell Nic to tell Marcus to get me one for an early anniversary present :-D

rawr.... $25 bucks per wick :-( I am getting ready to graduate, and move, and am broke as a joke. Hopefully I will get a teaching position in the fall and can afford!! Or, I guess I could buy one at a time :-D

I looked at them the other day and will probably order up a few to test them out and get a feel for the way they move, grip, burn times and how much abuse they can take.

Wow! What a genious idea! I hope some more hoopers post reviews here. I can handle spending $100 (4 spikes should do it right?) when it's that simple and transportable. Yay!
