Hello All,

I am going to be traveling from Arizona to Mass the first weekend of October to hoop in the Honk Festival and I was wondering if anyone has clothing suggestions for hooping in cooler weather. I am fortunate enough to usually get by with hooping in a tank top year round in AZ which I am assuming will not be the case in October in MA.

I suggest layers of clothing that isn't too thick or loose.

My usual cold weather layering is a tank top, t-shirt, fleece jacket, scarf, hat, fingerless gloves, leggings, skirt/shorts, legwarmers. As I warm up, I can peel things off and if I stop to rest, I put layer back on.

Awesome that sounds like a good idea. Are there certain fabrics that you feel are "stickier" than others?

I can hoop in just about any fabric. Some require more finesse than others. Experiment!

Being from wisonsin i get to deal with a good amount of chilly weather. Layers are key. I'm a big fan of leggings and yoga pants with a skirt or dress and sweaters :)

Megan thank you for this post!!!!  HONK had completely slipped my mind!  I missed it last year, but did it the year before with the Boston Hoop Troop, and it was sooo much fun!  Looking forward to seeing you there!  In '10 I wore boots, knee high socks/leg warmers, a skirt (with booty shor... (I'm on the right).   Not sure about this year, but that year the BHT had a cart to put bags/extra layers on.

In cold weather I'm usually in yoga pants (with a skirt or tutu over it) and a tank top with a long sleeve cotton T-shirt over it, a fleece or more snug sweatshirt if it's necessary, fingerless gloves if it's super cold. I usually don't *really* start to layer up until its under 50-55 degrees. Here's some examples.

Aaaand, Halloween last year it was snowing. It was like 34 degrees and absolutely freezing. Once I warmed up I was ok in a tank top, T-shirt, long sleeve T-shirt, yoga pants (with tights underneath), fluffies on my legs, shorts over the yoga pants and a tutu over the shorts. However when I first got there I was also wearing a fleece jacket and a bear hat. More photos:

Thanks for the suggestions everyone!

Siren of the Circle it would be great to connect with some other hoopers while I am out there. It will be my second time preforming so I am a bit nervous! :)
