My understanding is that the plastic is dyed so they feel just like regular polypro hoops.  Those are the ones from Superhooper.org at least.

I have regular poly pro and I taped mine.  I don't really notice a weight difference and the better grip makes it totally worth it!

I have the red polypro from SuperHooper (same company as polyprohoops.com) and it does not affect the weight at all. The plastic is dyed.

The inside (or full hoop) can be sanded for "grip"...or not!

I'm confused by this... As far as I'm aware polypro is incredibly difficult, nigh impossible to dye, especially in the consistnet shades they have... My only solutions are 1 maybe they are getting custom extrusions or 2 it's not really polypro (not trying to be negative with that one). I was just trying to figure out where the plastic was sourced from myself, to no avail.

Im guessing they get it custom extruded. It would be pretty much the only way to colour the plastic.

Juggle Art in Australia sell a range of hoops which they make from really cool custom extruded pipe too. It is not poly pro but it is almost see through and in really bright colours, It gives a pretty cool effect.

Yep ... we're having the color put in at the source! It doesn't affect the weight, and of course it is truly polypro. It's pretty incredible actually!
