While teaching a class yesterday a student asked me to define Flow as I had used it a few times in the class up until that point.  Though I feel I know what it means, I found myself struggling a bit to answer and I talked in circles until I felt I had said enough. I want to be better prepared next time.
How would you concisely define Flow?

Thanks Soo Z. I'm looking for an explanation of what it means to be "in the flow". I just found this wiki of Flow as a psychology term and it is very exciting to me. This is a good description of why I hoop at all.
I just looked it up.....wow perfect definition.
I just ordered Mihaly Csikszentmihalyi's book off Amazon. Can't wait.
Flow: The Psychology of Optimal Experience, New York: Harper and Row,
I use Mihaly Csikszentmihalyi's definition. I highly recommend his books :] I'm even re-reading "Creativity: Flow and the Psychology of Discovery and Invention" right now!
A "flow state" Is when mind and body are supremely connected. It produces a natural high in which time perception can be altered and the body can feel as though it were floating.

A flow with a flow toy is related to a flow state and often produces one. However, when learning flow I would say that it is a graceful connection and transfer of tricks, movements and manipulations of ones body and the tool that they are using.
Thank you. That's a great answer.
