I got a new hoop last night and using it today I got cut in the face. I told my fiancee that I wanted to name it Cutter. He said "why would you name your hoop?". He thought it was a weird thing. Is it normal to name your hoop? if so, what are your hoops names?

I've only named an LED hoop. I loved it so much I called it "love". It was a beautiful white, blue and uv purple stobe.... I sold it after I had to downsize, but I miss it.
Permalink Reply by Moonshadow on October 10, 2012 at 4:43pm I've named all of my hoops, although i do name a lot of inanimate objects. But I don't think it's any weirder for a hooper to give a name to her hoop than it is for a stoner to give a name to his pipe. It just gives you a closer bond to the hoop if you name it. My favourite hoop, my LED, is called Rainbow Dash.

Yes absolutely I name my hoops...
It's kind of funny but the one I use most frequently is the only one of my 5 that doesn't really have a proper name. I have pretty much started thinking of it as NoName.
If you hoop with people you know naming hoops can help a lot because it gives a frame of reference for the tools you are using. IE I can't do breaks with Guybrush translates to PSI, tubing diameter, hoop material and hoop size. If you tell someone you just hit yourself in the face with Slowpoke they know your brain might be addled by the biggest heaviest hoop you own.
Permalink Reply by Inge van Balgooij on October 11, 2012 at 9:47am I recently bought a hoop from a a lovely woman who names all her hoops, and mine was called 'High and deep'. So appropriate for me in so many reasons, and I only learned the name of it after I chose it! Very cool.
Also, I secretly giggle at the thought of giving my hoops 'normal' names like Jeffrey and Sarah. But maybe that's just me. Imagine going to a party and begin asked: Are you bringing someone? Yes, I'm bringing Jeffrey! ... Cue me and my hoop on someone's doorstep, hilarity ensues. Or awkwardness. <3
