i don't understand the strength difference between HDPE and PP. I make standard hoops out of pex 160psi pipe and irrigation black 100psi pipe. I find that if you make a hoop too big you lose it's rigidness. I worried this will happen with a larger polypro and I will be wasting my money. Does anyone have a larger polypro and can calm my worries????

I wouldn't suggest it for polypro.. If you want a lighter hoop but still want a big diameter go with hdpe. Practice with a hdpe hoop till your ready to downsize. I sell polypro hoops and making them over 36''' they get really wonky. There are sellers on etsy (I'm one of them) that will sell you a 40-42'' polypro hoop that size but will charge you extra since they are using a lot of tubing to make the hoop.

Also don't worry about jumping to a polypro hoop just because it's the next big thing and everyone else has/wants one, take your time downsizing in diameter and tubing. You don't want to buy a hoop thats so light that it slows your learning process. I've sold a couple of hoops that people then say it's too light and have trouble learning new tricks with.

As Martika already said, polypro hoops bigger than 36 are wonky and loose all the "springy but stiff" awesomeness. Unless you are making a led hoop, as the led and batteries ad stiffness and weight, you can try to make a 38 maybe even a 40 inch hoop... Maybe you can try a 38 HDPE hoop and se how it goes and use this as an opportunity to try smaller hoops :)
I have one 36", two 38", four 40" and two 42" pex hoops in either 3/4" diameter or 1/2". I love trying lots of new different things. But when I am actually out showing off I want a light hoop that I can do hand tricks with, but it also has to be big enough for me to hoop with, without breaking out in a huge sweat cause the hoop is spinning too fast around me. So what is this HDPE pipe? Where can I get a hoop made out of it?

Its a white tube similar to polypro but stiffer that allows to go bigger than 36 without having wonky hoops. Its also very responsive.  You can find it at almost every online hoop store and on etsy.

Martka sells them:  http://www.etsy.com/listing/64779866/blank-hdpe-hula-hoop?ref=sr_li...

I feel like it would be too slow because it's so big and light, I wouldn't recommend it
i like it kind of slow tho.  i think i would order an untape hdpe and tape it myself with tape, and as i get better remove the tape, i just hate how heavy my big fancy pex pipe hoops are.

I make polypro in Canada, where you are (I'm in Vancouver) and can make it in whatever size you want.  I have color too!!!

Superhooper told me that they tested their's up to 40 or something inch. Any bigger and it gets wonky.  Others swear large PP is bad.  I don't know.
now super hooper makes them. I asked her to make one for me  and she replied that she was currently working on changing the site to order them in a larger size. they sell them up to 42".
www.Superhooper.org  I order twins from them.  They make up to 42" size
Also, I have known 2 on here that use the larger poly pro and they still love it and swear by it.  I am currently awaiting my order.  I accidentally ordered the wrong size and had to send the hoops back.  They are exchanging them for me.  Thankfully!

If you're in Canada I'm Superhooper's Canadian distributor (shipping is way less within Canada) and I'll likely be in Victoria towards the end of July for the Electronic Music fest!
