Hey crafty hoopers!

I'm thinking about reopening my ETSY shop. I ran one for about a year, but that was more than two years ago. I sold macramé jewelry, bags, and belts. Did pretty well too, though it took a lot of time to keep the store updated and to network.

So I'm wondering how business is going in YOUR shop. What trends have you noticed--especially if you've been with ETSY for a couple years? Are folks buying inexpensive items or dropping the dollars for OOAK items? What networking tools do you use? What promotions work best? How do you help your shop stand out in the crowd?

Thanks, friends.

I have had my etsy shop open for a year now and have only recently been getting alot of business (things really started picking up after christmas time) I find that posting new items regularly, every few days, will keep your shop fresh in search results and bring in more customers! You can check me out here cosmicsunflow.etsy.com ! :)

Love your decals, Rachel!

Thanks! It's just the icing on the cake for whats to come
I found your shop from this discussion!! Yah, I'm so excited!!
Nice, I've created that custom listing for you. It was fun!

I loooove etsy. I've had 2 shops, but just running one now. Knitted accessories, jewelry, hoops, and other cute makings. More stuff to come. Look me up - CosmicVibrations

Peace & love.

I've been open for a little over a month now and business just keeps picking up. I've noticed that if you keep it under $20 people are more likely to buy and hair accessories and jewelry are really popular right now, especially FEATHERS!

Hey hoopers! I launched my Etsy store this week if ya'll would like to check it out. Thank you so much for your feedback. I've really enjoyed peeking through your shops too. If you're interested in TRADING, let me know!

Behold! Tangled Macrame!

I've been running my Etsy store for about a year and a half now and have had 66 sales which averages out to about 3-4 per month. Sometimes it seems like things are going really slow, and then they pick up for a little while.

When I first opened it, I did some advertising on Facebook, Google, and YouTube for a month or two but it got too costly. Now I have it linked to my website Nova Hoops and my Facebook Fan Page and I think that's pretty useful.

I've noticed with my store that a lot of people buy my budget hoops. I also have some non hoop items that I've tried to push more but not with much luck. In the beginning I also did a lot of discounts and discounted shipping, and since I've raised my prices I think I've had less sales, but I'm okay with it. I honestly do more business on eBay, but I still love Etsy.

I think having good photos, and a variety of them, is very helpful. Good communication with your buyers and anyone who messages you (obviously). And I think consistent pricing is helpful too.

Here is my store:
