I was doing this today and I think I am going to record it one of these days. I noticed it helped me create some moves I know are physically possible but I just can't execute yet. It also helped me focus more on dance moves rather than the hoop itself.

Has anyone out there done this? Any feedback on it as an effective tool to develop your hooping? I think it would be an interesting hoop challenge!

YES! I do it all the time when I hear a new song and don't have a hoop with me to try the moves :D Can't really give you any feedback on it because it's just fun for me, but it seems very plausible that it developes your ability to plan ahead during dancing.

Guilty! I noticed myself doing this while making breakfast the other week. I had Pandora on listening to a Jason Mraz station. I just started air hooping to a song that I really liked. Oddly enough, I felt more "in flow" without the hoop than when I tried hooping to the song later that day! I couldn't remember the rhythm or the moves that I was playing with and it didn't seem to flow as well. *sigh* I felt like a complete dork.

I love this video~

I absolutely LOVE this video. You know you're a hooper when you know EXACTLY what she's doing without the hoop being there.

Seconded! I love this video! I haven't tried the poi air hooping yet but I think it will be next. It should help me get that hugging weave. I gotta search YouTube for more of these!
Wow :D this is a very nice idea!

Love this so much!!! My housemates are gonna get an eyefull when I try this lol!!!

So glad you posted this.  When I was in Europe without a hoop for three weeks I found myself doing this all the time or swinging certain things in the motion that my hoop would spin around me.  It was pretty hilarious, fun and does help you get the motion down if your trying to do something new.

Yes, It's called "The Time Warp"....  :)

I was so doing that the other morning lol!! I was listening to music and I'm really new to hopping so I was just playing around lol!

Haha! Like your name...
