I just use my digital camera on video mode. Works like a charm.

I use either video camera, digital camera on video mode or sometimes little camera that is plugged into my computer that takes pictures as well as videos (normally used for video calls). But I guess my favorite one is the digital camera, easy to use and quick to upload it to the comp.

I use a digital camera....one really cool thing we have is called a "gorilla-pod" (I think)
it's like a tri-pod but the legs are flexible so you can wrap it around stuff or stand it on uneven places...Helps when I am filming myself in...non-traditional places and don't have a person with a steady hand nearby. Also helps prevent unfortunate...accidents. My camera has hit the ground too many times!

i just got one as an early bday present.....love love love the tripod. its amazing! i wrapped it around a medium sized tree branch and made for a cool shot angle!

I use iMovie on my mac. I have a camera that has a video mode but the sound sucks on it and my new laptop rocks so I use that.

I use my digital camera on video mode. I have the Nikon CoolPix (the "Ashton Kutcher touch screen" one) and it makes great videos. I set my video settings on the highest quality as our apartment is rather dim and I have an affinity for high-definition stuff. The only problem is the battery runs out faster on the highest quality videos and photos but the trade-off of awesome looking photos & videos is worth it. As for editing, I have the Windows Movie Maker software on the computer; it does the job but one day I will have a Mac again for editing purposes and it will be glorious :-)

I recommend a digital camera with at least 5 megapixels but more if you can afford it. The higher megapixels will help to make a smoother picture and pick up the color of your pretty hoop! Check out bestbuy.com for some really good cameras, they may also have a sale, which is how I ended up getting one for Christmas.

Lauren, I am just learning to take videos with my camera...I have a canon power shot and love it. I can't believe how easy it is to upload videos to your computer...I didn't even know I had video editing software built on my computer (Toshiba) until 3 days ago...thanks to my college age daughter, now I have a fun new way to exercise(she is teaching me and encouraging me to hoop) and am now exploring video blogging...yah!! I use my cheap digital camera - a $100 Ricoh R50. It doesn't take superior video, but it's fine enough considering the amount of lossy compression YouTube adds when they convert your footage to their Flash format. And because I almost always have the camera in my bag, I am ready for all impromptu hooping video opportunities.

Generally, I have the camera set up somewhere stable - a fencepost, a rock, the ground - and just film myself. I've also had friends film me but most of the time I am practicing alone. If a friend films, I am tempted to direct and that can be annoying for them.

If you're in the market for a camera I'd recommend Cannon's Powershot SD1100. It's really small and compact, is 8 megapixels, will take still pictures and also film video for over an hour!
