K, so I know this is kind of a silly question.....but, is everyone using their digital cameras to film themselves or are you having someone else film u with a recorder. Of course my camera broke several months ago, but i wanted to know what you guys thought of what you were using before I spend money on one. I guess...rate your stuff. Yes, the hooping videos will probably all this will be used for. I lose cameras or break them if they leave my house and i have no use really for a video camera. Thanks for your input!

i love my digital camera and tripod combo. :D
Thanks for this thread! I just discovered that I already have Windows Movie Maker which is amazing - I can't believe I never knew about this program! My first ever hooping video will be coming right up! :o) Now, how do I publish this sucker to the website? Hmmmm....
I have been using a digital video camera for several years- it's a Sony, uses mini DV's, can upload into my computer, and I've been using Windows Movie Maker to edit my videos. The quality is not the best so I just got a new digital camcorder for Christmas- the Canon Vixia HF200. It's pricey, but has HD quality. I am hoping to make a hooping demo with it. Haven't played with it too much though. I also have a a point & shoot digital camera (a few years old, Kodak EasyShare) that takes decent quality video... it actually picks up my LED hoop better than my video camera(well, in the sense that it captures the trails, which could be because the frames move slower, not sure). I am a bit of a camera junkie :)

Kimmie- to publish using windows movie maker, just hit the "export movie" button. It will save it as a windows media file and you can upload it to YouTube. The drawback of the program is that it does not save to .MOV or .AVI which is used for DVD media.
I tried filming a short vid the other night with my Kodak EasyShare M753 (translation: my overpriced upgrade from my previous overpriced Kodak :-P), but the video quality was crappy and the file format was unusable in Windows Movie Maker. So, I ran a quick test with the Canon Powershot at the office this morning, liked what I saw, hopped on Amazon, and ordered a Canon A1100 and a Gorillapod. I'm having them overnighted to me, so I should have my "first" (second filmed, first released) vid up by Sunday. Then we can all see how good Canon is...and how I'm doing, too. ;-)
I am looking for video camera, let me know how the Canon works.
Will do, Rose! I thought about getting a camcorder at first, but decided I'd rather upgrade my camera instead. Less expensive and easier to lug around one device than two.
all i've ever used is a webcam....which probably explains the terrible quality of my videos
