Im contemplating fire fans.

Okay, more than contemplating, Im about to buy some. I found these - http://www.homeofpoi.com/shop/productDetails/Pair-of-Large-Fire-Fan...

on the cheap at home of poi. My concern is the grip rings. Im not sure what type of style I will be spinning (static, spins, etc) so I was looking for a versatile grip. Is this one that will work okay for a beginner? The trigger ring is pretty small, I dont know if that makes too much of a difference, but for the price, Im wondering if I should go ahead and do this and just suck it up and get used to them.

can you spin using the main circle, or must you use the smaller one?

I spin in the smaller one, however, you can hold the larger one more loosely to incorporate "swinging" moves. I use this technique to do vertical weaves from "dayside" i.e front; to "night side" i.e. back of my body.

I have the three pronged version of these, which I put very large wicks on. I think that these are great beginner fans, when you get better at them, then you can invest in some really pretty ones. You will most likely drop these ones a lot when learning spin moves, and your prongs will bend a bit.

I think I might have to spin in the bigger one, I found a picture and its just barely bigger than the girls finger.

If you do this, I would recommended using more than one finger to spin around. group two or three together...
