I am performing in a charity variety night, with my new LED hoop, on May 7th for the first time! I am used to hooping at raves, festivals and public parks and have some theatre experience but I have never done a staged hoop performance so I'm super nervous!

Any tips from the pros out there? I am still trying to figure out what music to play and what to wear!

For your first performance it's good to pick a song you know like the back of your hand, so you wont have trouble thinking of a routine and you know all the beat punctuations etc. For my first performance I kind of winged it which was fun but didn't look as smooth as other practiced planned routines I've done. Also you should check out Corleeena's profile she has a ton of journals full of performing tips.

keep your moves comfortable and relax and have fun. if youre having fun, the audience will follow suit :) goodluck and happy hooping!

I would say listen to amanda.... just relax and have fun. crowds are intimidating, its a fact, but its ok bc they are who supports you, and they are just there to have fun too. just have fun and let them see what you have to show, its really no different than if you were just hooping at the park or a festival or something. they are just a little closer to you :] good luck

You'll do great. Smile and have fun and you will do terrific.

Pick one or two (or maybe three) really complicated tricks to accent your dance.  But don't fill the whole dance with tricks.  Dance and move with your hoop in artful and creative ways instead.  Save the tricks to dazzle.  Often, the most complicated tricks are lost on the audience, but beautiful movement is not.
how did it go??
Thanks so much for all the tips! The performance went great! The audience was really warm and supportive and full of energy! I felt good about my routine and can't wait to perform again!!!
