For my upcoming 25th birthday (next Friday), my boyfriend told me he wanted to get me a PSI hoop since I had been coveting them since I first saw GroovinMegZz "PSI Hoop/Younger Brother" practice vid on YouTube (great hooping in that video MegZz!!). I started talking with Patrick last month and I just ordered the hoop. I know he's not going to get to it until April, which is fine, I'm not in a hurry.

BUT!! I don't know which size to tell Patrick to make it! I spin mainly 36" hoops but I don't know if I would want to go a couple inches bigger or not. I have a 40" hoop I love but it seems so slow when I want to do certain things. I did choose the stiff tubing as I love breaks and I sometimes hit my hoop on things by accident but sizing is a different matter altogether.

Any recommendations or advice for choosing PSI hoop size?

Yeah, I want to buy a PSI hoop myself (eventually getting two for some amazing poi stuff) but I'm not sure what size either. I'm probably going to go with 38, which is a bit smaller than what I normally hoop with. I figure it's going to be a big investment so I'll have it as I get better. And as we get better, we tend to go with smaller diameters so I'm buying a hoop I can grow into... or is it shrink into?

Since you hoop with both 36 and 40... i'd just go with 36 since that's what you normally hoop with and that way you have room for more poi stuff. I'd like to hear what GroovinMegZz hoops with, because her poi stuff with double hoops is amazing.
I thought you were making the led hoop with a kit!? or wast hat someone else!?? I was gonna have my dad make one for my bday coming up, I'm not sure what size either.
I don't have the patience or skill to make an led hoop w/ a kit, LOL. I made a glow stick hoop a while ago and I just made a heavier, better glow stick hoop for Bonnaroo (pics to come soon!).
Hey, I have also been intouch with patrick. Yeah, PSI hoops.. I want a 39 or 40 I'm not sure but I want the one with the new 3d dragonfly.. Here is a video check this out and see if u like this one... it is on youtube.com fionanbrady New PSI. watch this and let me know if u like this one.. This is what I think I want...
Yep, I went with the new 3D lights (blue/yellow/green), 12 of 'em in fact, and then added in 6 elfins on a separate circuit. My original plan before I spoke w/ him was 12 Dragonflies & 6 Elfins, so this worked out even better. Patrick had sent me his lighting and tubing info and I would pore over it at work between calls/emails to figure out what I want. Blue & Green are two of my fav colors but I didn't want to lose the RBG color factor either, plus the slow-change Elfins are awesome!

Thanks for the link! I found her vid the other day and her's looks awesome; looks like she went w/ 3d and red/blue facing to make purple. Looks really cool!
What did patrick send you.. B/c I am so confuse on what I want. I want 12 LEDs and I also thought that the blue/yellow/green is what I want but my problem is what I want for the 2nd circut.. He also said I could put regular dragonfly or elfins or rainbow riders but I dont know what I want and I know it is a lot of money and I want to b happy. I have a ? when u said 6 elfin r u talking about just 1 color.. see that is where I get confuses. what is the RBG color factor. Can you help me...PLS
Oh sorry, didn't mean to confuse! :-) RBG is Red/Blue/Green, which is what the Elfins are; Patrick described them as having red, blue and green lights and the movement makes diff colors, like purple.

My 6 Elfin are just the slow-changing lights, so it goes through the entire color spectrum but it goes really slowing. I wanted those because it would have Red just enough to occasionally create purple when I spin it.

I can forward the email Patrick sent to me when I first started looking into the PSI hoop! Actually....ok, nevermind. I tried to copy and paste it into a message to you from here but it was waaayyy over the character limit. If you would like, I can forward it to you from my email, I'll just need your email address. Let me know!
I got on his site and read everything and man he can confuse a smart person..LOL well my question is he asked me if i wanted 1 circut just purple and the other 3Ds. See I like the steady purple in her video but not to crazy about the red/green/blue thing.. so my questions is should I get elfin on 1 and the other 3D in the b/y/g.. I have another video on youtube can u watch and tell me what u think she has b/c I like hers better than Fiona's. It is some what the same hoop but hers seems more mellow.. kimraymidwife on youtube.. so to b such a pain...
Yep, she has the 3d's with pairs of steady red & blue to make purple. So her red/blue pairs don't change like the elfins do. So if you want purple, you could do the 3ds on one circuit and the red/blue pairs on another circuit. I just heard back from Patrick and if you only have a little bit of lights -- like my choice of 6 elfins on one circuit -- that one circuit will not give off a whole lot of light on its own. You could even put them all on one circuit; i just wanted to be able to turn off each type of lights separately in case I wanted a little color changing light (elfin) or a whole lotta strobing light (3d).

And I'll send the info he sent to me about lights and tubing. When you get ready to decide, check with him to see if he has anything new in case you change your mind.
Thank You, I will check my e-mail and see what I got... You did explain it for me better and I'm sure other ppl has read this so, I hope this has help not only me but other ppl with some of these questions.
Do you have any videos of your led hoop?
I too, am in the process of deciding. I'm actually kind of freaking out because there's so many different choices and I would really like to have it before the end of may (if it's even possible). I've been going through so many you tube videos I think I actually have gotten lost! So any visual help would be nice :)
I haven't received my hoop yet but as soon as I do, I will make a video! :-)
