Anyone get "the fear" while hooping with glasses? You hesitate a bit more for fear of knocking your glasses off of your face? Normally I wouldn't care, but it can hurt at times.

I got some contacts a few days ago when I got my eyes checked and I just learned a few new tricks I couldn't do before cause of "the fear" like rolling the hoop across my chest and various other hand passes. Took me long enough! lol!

I learned very early to take off my glasses while hooping :)
Honestly... nope.  I've been whacked in the face with my glasses on more times than I could ever count.  I have had nice bruises on my nose from it though...  Perhaps I should be more afraid.  lol  That's great you learned new tricks!  I imagine we all have our own obstacles that stop us from being 100%.
I feel the same way, I have never been afraid to do anything because of my glasses. I tried contacts but i have so much trouble taking them out it's just not worth it for me.The only thing that I don't like about them is that I can't wear masks.
I'm like Maisie, I have smacked myself more times than I can count. And I have very poor eye sight so being blind in my peripheral vision was definitely messing with some moves, chest roll probably the most obvious. I went to the eye DR last weekend and got contacts. I've always been iffy about contacts because I'm very sensitive to the sun (but sunglasses are easier to replace lol) and I have very dry eyes. The doc gave me like 3 different kinds of contacts to try. I'm getting new glasses too, funky ones with transition lenses, but I KNOW I'm going to be afraid to break those. My old ones are titanium lol not much can hurt em, maybe bend the nose pads. Its funny, I've been wearing contacts for the week, and I still push on my nose like I'm moving my glasses up, but I'm not wearing them! And I take my hoodie off and stretch the neck all out to get around my glasses and... I'm not wearing any lol. Its pretty weird to be able to feel my face. Noone has said a word about "You got contacts?" yet, I was suprised, I thought it was a huge impact in my appearance lol.
HAHAHAHA!!!  The pushing on your nose reference and stretching the neck of your hoodie out to clear your "glasses" almost made me pee my pants!!  I think maybe I should try contacts again....(last time was 10 yrs ago)
Oh I would simply just take my glasses off, but I am legally blind and would hurt myself for sure if I did that. I was told I should have had glasses as a baby my eyes are so bad. I have had them since kindergarten. I am so sick of glasses and now they are trendy, oy! lol

YES!

I lost a contact lense at UK Hoop Gathering event in the summer so had to wear my glasses for the last day and it was the freakiest thing.... I've been wearing contacts for the better part of a decade and literally only wear my glasses for the first and last ten minutes of the day so hooping in them was weird! I wore a pretty tight headband to keep the arms firmly attached behind my head and it was fine (the 4 hour drive home however was not as easy - the glasses were very old and about 1.5 points out.) Still, I felt a bit constricted and VERY gawky; stopped my looking at the floor all the time though, a bad habit of mine, as they'd have fallen off if I did that!

I know what you mean though! I may be a very clumsy hooper though as I've also managed to knock my nose ring out and give myself a fat lip.....

I've hit the bridge of my nose several times and lit my sinuses on fire for a day. I don't think you're a clumsy hooper, enthusiastic? maybe? hehe I have also knocked my nose ring out, now that hurt!
I don't fear . . . but my glasses' lenses are totally scuffed up from hoop collisions now.  :)
I broke my glasses hooping. I much prefer hooping with contacts.
I pass out when I try to stick contacts in my eyes -shudder- so I'm stuck with glasses, which I normally love and don't mind. But ya, when hooping I have definitely sent them flying into a corner and had a huge panic, crawling around, squinting and trying to find out where they went, lol, but so far so good. One of these days, they are going to be snapped in some place, and once I get my new prescription, I'm going to order a cheapo back up pair from the internet to wear while hooping ;)
you know, i hadn't even thought to order glasses off of the internet. that is a really really good idea! thanks!
