So I have a potential opportunity to gogo hoop at a night club I used to work at.  My exboss has said he'd love to get me up on the podium my only hesitation is my outfit and general lack of performance experience.  Part of me wants to wait, but then the other part wants to grab this opportunity!

I've got about 5-10 pounds to lose before I am in 'gogo' shape-but I do have an outfit that hides the tummy and still looks great-it's just not cohesive. The top is a fire spinning top and the bottoms are a rave/goth cyber-ish skirt.  Both are black.  I think it looks good, it's sexy, it's just not totally cohesive...its articles from two different looks...am I thinking too much about this??

I'm also nervous because I've never performed in a showy/gogo way, only at firejams and the like.  I'm confident I could rock it so I'm kinda thinking Efff it!  And asking him to demo, I'm just not sure about the outfit..

Ughh!  Advice please?

You are thinking too much. Wear your confidence and it really won't matter what costume you wear.

pretty much exactly what i needed to hear, thanks!

Hey girl! I'm a GoGo dancer/hooper/promoter and have recently booked myself with a venue, and hoping to get more work in the future. All I have to say is, the manager obviously wants you to do it, so you better take the opportunity! When I "auditioned" for my gig, I was the only dancer who showed up to the open performer night so I used it to my advantage. I wore a black and white Beatles shirt (comfy and covered everything) with some black shorts I made, and white fluffies I made myself. I didn't go over the top, but wore stuff I could move in. I also brought 2 hoops that I could do on-body, off, and doubles with. Basically you don't want to look your best and not get paid, but you want your skills and talent to show. When you are actually performing, make a costume or match pieces so you look the part. Good luck and have fun!
