I have come to the conclusion that having hair and hooping does not mix. At least not for me. I have tried pig tails, ponytails, buns, you name it. However, my hair is always in the way.

Ladies and gentlemen...what do you do with your hair while your hooping?

My hair is about 2 inches past my shoulders I think...lol. I usually keep it down or pull it up in a high ponytail or bun thingy. It never seems to bother me.

Do you have really long hair?

My hair is 5 inches past my shoulders. When I workout it gets big. I have hockey player hair. LOL You can always tell when it is going to rain by the massiveness that is my hair. :)

I actually find that leaving my down works best, although sometimes when I practice I do it in a high ballerina type bun. It gets messy and whatnot being down when I shoulder hoop, vertical hoop, etc but I think it looks kinda cool :) Oh and my hair is about 6 or 7 inches past my shoulers, so it's kind of longer. Usually if I wear anything low like a low pony or pigtails it just gets sloppy and I have to pull it out eventually.

I tie mine in a messy bun on top of my head (this is the ONLY way I can hoop with my hair). I can't hoop with my hair down it makes me feel claustrophobic in a way.

Mine is about 5 inches past my shoulders as well.

I have longed for long hair since I was a little, but alas, it is not in the cards for me.  Just don't have the right hair type, and for once, with hooping, I truly appreciate my short haircut!  Especially when fire hooping.  My hair doodle options are limited, though.

I feel the same way! Nothing beats short hair when you want to hoop without tangles :D

I tried wearing it down but my hoop ripped out my hair. Even with a new hoop with clean nice tape it just damages my hair. When I wear it up  I am constantly stopping to put my hair up.

my hair goes past my belly button

i do a medium height bun, or wear it down (not usually for even daily purposes)....parted hair styles like pigtails (if loose) tend to get tangled in me and my armpits and hoop etc (when hooping), however i am learning that hooping with my hair down is more of an art and just takes practice. the kind of practice you would need if you wore slippery pants, or tasseled/fringed clothes, just a little to get used to it

good luck, hoop love

How long is your hair? I just throw my into a messy high bun usually:)

I cut my hair to about chin length back in August, but before that it was down to the middle of my back and it was SUCH a pain while hooping! I never managed to really have it out of the way. In a bun or ponytail it would get caught on the hoop when doing certain things, when it was down it would make the hoop slip. Short hair has made it sooo much easier.

I chopped mine off into a pixie cut- but I do a lot of fire work.. I always thought buns and stuff got in the way too

I just wear my hair as it is. Usually down. It isn't long, about shoulder length so I don't have a problem.

However you do have a good point. . .When I had long synth dreads in they impeded with my hooping greatly!
