So I am most likely making the trek from Wisconsin to California in a few weeks to hit up Beyond Wonderland. I just got my brand new Atomic Pro recently and am really wanting to take it to my first trip to Cali. Considering my bond to my hoop and not wanting to pay an additional $25 to have it somehow checked, has anyone traveled with their LED hoop and had TSA or airlines have an issue with them coiling it down and taking it as a carry on? I will most likely be flying American Airlines or JetBlue. Any input would be great! thanksss :)
I flew from Philly to LAX and then to Oakland without any issues. I coiled down my LED along with a collapsible hoop and a set of minis with no trouble. They just need to fit into the plastic tubs at TSA. I tied mine together with some yoga straps and attached it to my backpack while in the airport. I sat in the back row of the plane or close to it so I could stash the hoops behind the last row of seats-they fit really well. Another time when I had a window seat I propped them in the space between the windown/wall and my seat-less comfortable for sure. I have also checked hoops and been charged $175 by Delta for 5 hoops in a hoop bag that weighed 5 pounds. SO frustrating. But the next time I flew Delta - no charge for my checked hoops. It can really depend on the ticketing agent - so be firm if you ever check hoops and explain how light they are. Okay sorry to ramble...hope that helps!

Permalink Reply by Loee Love on August 22, 2012 at 9:21am So, how'd it go? I see all these posts about people wondering if they can take them, but nobody follows up with their experience. I'd love to know! I'm hopping on a series of AA flights on Friday, and also want to take my Atomic, but I'm so nervous about it, it makes my tummy hurt. :/

Permalink Reply by Becca Alts on December 19, 2012 at 6:58am Hey, Im wondering how this turned out? I am flying down to jam cruise in a few weeks (CT to FL) and I'm flying some random cheap airline. Im worried if I try to carry on my LED hoop they will be concerned about the circuits. But i DEF do not wanna put it in my luggage! My hoop coils down pretty small. Its a custom made expensive hoop though and I'm seriously considering not even bringing it because I'm so worried... help?
This past summer I flew from Tucson to Dallas then Dallas to San Jose, Costa Rica with a LED hoop. I flew American and did not have any problems. I did have to uncoil and turn on the hoop at customs but after they saw what it was they let me through.
