Ok so I am an art major and I love being creative. After reading Eternal Voyager's zodiac discussion I was inspired. I'm an Aquarius and it's true that I love all things water, swimming, showers, rain, etc. My first hoop was even a hoop weighted with water inside haha.

Well now I really want to make a series of water hoops starting with a SUPER light tubing so it isn't too heavy when the water is in it. My idea is to make a hoop using clear tubing that isn't flimsy like PVC and to dye the water inside so the water itself is the color in the hoop. Idk if I just invented this but I've never heard of one or seen one.

Any ideas on where I can get clear tubing??????

mcmaster carr

It's expensive!!!! some of it is $1 per foot.

But it's light, rigid, and could handle a little water.

If you don't want to go through them, I can sell you some of mine, pretty much at cost and cheaper shipping and instruct you how to make it, you will have to make your own connectors.
Sunshine, Im looking at the mcmaster carr site, could you tell me the name / type of pipe to look for please and also the inside diametre of the size you use?
Im on the other side of the globe & have been looking for ages for a suitable clear pipe. I cant find anything IRL here & its really hard to tell from websites whats going to be good or not!
Voodoo ~

Here is a tutorial on how to make them:

here is mcmaster site:
http://www.mcmaster.com/#

I usePPE Hoop Part List:
Tube A – 3/4″ O.D. PPE (McMaster Car# 5392K17)
Tube B – 4 in. of 3/4″ O.D. PPE (McMaster Car #5392K41)
Fastener – Two 1/8″ pop rivets (available at local hardware stores and online)

PPE can be ordered by the foot from McMaster Carr but is a bit more pricey. Currently it costs $1.16/ft. for 3/4″ O.D. PPE.

for my hoops, and I make my own connectors like the site explains, but I now use a push button for travel and easy shipping.

Message me if you need any troubleshooting help!
exactly what i was going to say. 3/4" PPE from mcmaster carr.
Thank you Sunshine, thats great, good info!!! :-D

Has anyone see the coloured transparent pipe? Blue, yellow etc... I know it exists, but where is the question...
when you find out, let me know!!
How much is your tubing?
I found flex pex clear tubing at my local hardware store and I believe it was 79 cents a foot. It's 3/4 inch diameter and 100 psi.
I was thinking about making a clear water hoop too and thought about possibly combining 1 part dyed water with 1 part oil, to give it a cool color separation or wave feeling. Ever make those "ocean bottles" when you were little? Same effect, like these: http://ayearoffhe.blogspot.com/2010/03/week-12-jesus-calms-sea.html

Of course it could become quite heavy with that much in it, but if it's small and the tubing is light, it could be really cool. The ends would have to be sealed super-tight or it could get messy.

I was also thinking of dropping metallic or sparkled confetti into the water to give another cool effect.

Just a thought.

I think this is the best one I found
I love this idea. Please let me know how It goes.
I am trying to find clear tubing too, but in Europe... not easy. What I found is white clear tubing used for underfloor heating...anybody has any experience with this one?
It is quite sturdy, still have to try to make hoop out of it, not sure about which connector to use either...
