The discussion in the "hoop face" thread brought up something I think many of us can relate to - what have you broken in the course of your flight time?  What's the WORST thing you've broken?

In my case - I very stupidly hooped in the same room as a lit candle - knowing better, but still taking that chance - and sure enough, the hoop went flying, and hot pink wax sprayed ALL over my white kitchen cupboards.  It took me days and days to get it all off, and you can still find specks of it now and then (and this was months ago!).

Oopsies?  ;)

What about you?

When I first started hooping I would practice at my boyfriends apartment. He was a nerd and had tons of lego models set up that he spent hours building, including one he and his father built when he was a kid. When I finally learned the vortex I was so desperate to show him that I couldn't wait till we got to the yard. I HAAAAAD to show him in his living room. The first vortex was fine...The second was fine. On the third I let go while it was above my head and of ALL the legos in his living room I demolished the one he built with his dad. I cried for about an hour and for the rest of the time that we were together I never hooped inside his apartment.
However, I am a klutz so I broke several other models just from walking around the apartment and bumping into things. :( lol
I have taken the light fixture right out of my living room celing so i don't break anymore light bulbs!

The worst thing i have broke so far would have to be these 2 amazing statues i brought back from my first trip to mexico. They had been sitting on a self in my living room and one day the hoop went flying and took them both out at the same time!! Shattered all over the floor! I can't even begin to describe how much i loved these statues, i cried over it! The tiny pieces are still in a dish on my kitchen counter, i can't even bring myself to throw them out. I have since been back to mexico and can't find anything like them.
So sad when you break something that can't be replaced! I'd be crying too...
I just started hooping, but the worst thing broken till now are my glasses....I did the vertical step through once, twice, and the third time it hit me in the face, my glasses flew away and one side was out of the fixing (don't know the right word). Luckely I have a very handy bf, so he put my glasses back together. Perhaps next time I put my lenses in.....
I don't know how I haven't broken my glasses yet! I keep smashing myself in the face, or sending them flying by side-swiping them with my hoop. Oops!
My husband broke his glasses hooping too-- right down the middle-- irreparable. It was frustrating because he'd finally been taking to hooping after a long resistance (& every other time I'd reminded him to remove his spex first-- somehow I forgot that time) & it definitely turned him off to the hoop. Sigh...
I have knocked over a beer on the coffee table in my apartment once. The bottle did not break though.

*knock on wood* I really have not broken anything yet though. I normally only practice in my garage though.

I am surprised that I have not broken my glasses too. They have taken quite a few really hard hits while I have been learning...
I usually hoop in my studio, & there I've broken many a light bulb (learning to elbow hoop was the worst for that), knocked pictures out of their frames, sent my paintbrushes flying way too many times, & broke a Christmas ornament (not on the tree, I wouldn't have been that reckless!) But the most embarrassing was when I was showing a friend's daughter how to hoop in my living room. My friend was worried about breakage, but I said "so long as you're just waist hooping, it's not really that risky." Couple of seconds later, I'm backing up in my hoop to make room for the girl, & crash! I shatter a candle holder! Understandably Mom was not reassured!
lol, my list is too big! and hilarious ^.^
This is a good topic, I am enjoying reading the responses.
About a 3 months after I started hooping I had my computer open on the desk playing some hoop tunes when *Whoosh* it slipped and went sailing right across the room into a full open Nalgene bottle of water that fell and emptied all over my computer. Very costly but, I did get to finally get that MAC i always wanted.

:)
lol! me and Snowzilla were just talking about how i ripped the monitor off my old laptop in the other thread! now i don't feel like such a dufus breaking my own computers!!! ^.^
Way back in the day I was watching a hoop video on my computer & trying to learn something (I think it might have been a weave) when my hoop went flying & bounced off my monitor. No damage, but it scared me half to death. It's a pricy one-- I'm an artist so I need a big image & high resolution-- & I can't afford to be without it without missing deadlines & losing income-- needless to say I haven't been back in that room to hoop since!
