Hey! I have started making my own hoops and I just need to buy the tape now. I am looking for a website that has quality tape for a good price. Any one have a site that they swear by?

http://identi-tape.com/ They are awesome! Have all kinds of tape, and you can get a discount if you order enough! :D
I checked out that site and I loved the tape they have, but they are so expensive!
identi-tape is were to get your tape.... for 1 inch Gaffer though go to goodbuyguys.com is cheaper.
I am on a budget and would just rather get something that's not $15.00 a roll. Fancy tapes has the same tape but it's less expensive, and less tape. Since I am just starting out, I don't want to buy a huge roll and then end up not liking it when I try to tape with it.
Its true the gaffer's tape is a bit pricey, but consider that a lot of other tapes leave a stickey residue that sort of squishes out of the edges gooping your hoop and whatever it touches. Gaff tape is a good idea. Its also to re-position if you goof when decorating.

Good Buy Guys has the least expensive, high quality gaffer's tape around. I use the 2-inch rolls (just score and you can make the piece however wide you want) and it's over $5 a roll cheaper than Identitape. And it's even cheaper if you buy it in a set, like the fluorescent set, or by the case. Best prices around. And again, the good quality gaffer's tape, not the cheap stuff.
You say I can score it and cut it? Can the whole roll be sliced? How would you do that? , because I have no idea!
Someone GAVE me six rolls of 3 inch wide gaff tape last year and I would LUV to make a 18 rolls out of it by slicing it into one-inch width.

But I have also considered, ( I have not tried), pulling the tape down the length of a hoop instead of winding it around and simply closing the edges through the inside to make a solid gaff hoop.
Then I can run stripes around it and these might make good, grippy beginner hoops.
If it would work. IDK.
Gaffer's tape is cloth tape with adhesive on one side. Because it's cloth, the cloth runs in woven lines of thread. If you look closely you can see them -- lines woven together longways and across. First figure out how big a piece you want. Say, a inch piece instead of a 2 inch piece. I'd take the 2-inch piece, pull about six inches from the roll and fold it in half, back to back (not sticky to sticky) to get two 1-inch pieces. Use some scissors and cut along the bend (which will also end up being along one of the many thread seams). You only need to cut it an inch or so, then stick the one you're not using back town, pull the other up and away from the roll and it will naturally tear right along the thread seam. Easy peezy. It's so easy you won't believe it!!! Go try it with one of your rolls right now. It's cool.

3-inch rolls might be kinda tough to wrap with just because the rolls are so wide. They might be hard to hold in the hands. I'm sure there's a way to score whole rolls but I'm not sure how. Hmmmm... I might leave it on the three inch roll and score it so you have a bunch of different sizes on one roll: 1/8 inch, 1/4 inch, 1/2 inch, 1 inch, etc. You can get a lot of different sizes this way which saves you in tape in the long run because you're not covering up so much tape with other tape. If you need a 1/2 piece of tape but you only have a 1-inch roll, you waste 50% more tape than you need to if you customize your tape sizes.
Thanks! It is ridiculous to have this tape just sitting around. I also thought about cutting it into random pieces and "patchworking" it onto a hoop.

Maybe I should stop just thinking about stuff and go DO IT...

While waiting and waiting and waiting for an order from Identi-tape for the 1/2" purple gaff I needed, I had to cut the 1" I had on hand. After placing my first layer of mirror tape, I had a pile of paper backing on the floor and wondered if the gaffer's tape would stick to it. I always wrap in one continuous piece to avoid a lot of joins and that's probably just a quirk of mine. The gaffer's tape did stick to the paper backing (shiny side) and it was a breeze to cut down the middle. I know that sounds like a lot of trouble but it really didn't take much time to do it. If there is a Micheal's or A.C. Moore store in your area, sometimes they have a tape cutting machine and will do it for you. Just like Identi-Tape does with their logs of tape. Here's a picture of some yellow I had to cut. It rolls up nicely with the paper backing.

SWEET! Thanks so much for that.
I will be knocking on the door of AC Moore and/or Michael's now.
Thank you for this post.... Wish you could have seen the mess I was making before I read this.... Thank you
