I looked to see if there was a thread on this already...let me know if I missed it and I will get this thread locked if so.
I know it just came out (?) but I am very curious as to who on HoopCity got the DVD ( I know one lucky HoopCitizen got an advance copy as a present..wow!) and if they'll post some impressions of the DVD for the rest of us that don't have it....

Permalink Reply by Camille on January 7, 2011 at 4:46pm What sort of instruction? I really want to get this DVD, but being sort on cash atm, I don't want to end up with a DVD full of things I may already know.
(Of course, the interviews alone are worth it!)
Permalink Reply by Camille on January 8, 2011 at 2:23am Hi, thanks for the snarkiness, it really answered my question :p
I meant, as I'm sure you gathered, that while I KNOW it is a mind-blowing DVD, I would be interested in knowing what they teach. To further clarify for you, I am short on money atm (read: broke in terms of hooping), so if I had some sort of idea of the contents, I could better make a choice between that and one of SaFire's classes. Thus, I would choose the one which had most for my meager hoop money at this point in time.
Did that help you out a bit?
Permalink Reply by Camille on January 8, 2011 at 10:28am Ponder on this for a moment:
Some DVDs are geared towards those just picking up a hoop, others focus on more advanced techniques.
I have several hooping videos. I want to learn more. I do not want to learn the same things over atm, even from Rich and Spiral, BECAUSE I do not have the funds to throw around for hoops that I would like to.
I pointed that out in my post, but you conveniently ignored it to pretend like I posted that I have nothing to learn from anyone. I don't know what YOUR problem is, trying to make me look like a tosser by extrapolating non-existant meaning from my short, original post, since we've never spoken before. Nice to meet you by the way.
I don't care about your hoop experience, I don't care about your bizarre need to start problems with strangers online, I just would like to know a general idea of what is on the video.
Permalink Reply by Lucky Bunny* on January 8, 2011 at 2:17pm I'm also short on cash (I'm doing Americorps, so SERIOUSLY short on cash) I'm glad I pre-ordered it.
It wasn't tons and tons of new moves, but at this point (a year and a half in) I don't really need or want that.
It was a lot of theory about how to move and ways of motion that I hadn't thought about before and it was nice to have that broken down for me. For me, this DVD was just what I was looking for.
I would say if you're looking to build up a vocabulary of tricks, take one of SaFire's classes, her classes are awesome for that. If you're looking to add more body awareness and dance to your hoop dance, get the DVD.
It's definitely called Hoop Technique with good reason. It's refinement focused. SaFire and Rich and Spiral are all great teachers so I can see why you'd be torn, but they definitely have different areas of focus. It's just a matter of decided what you need at this point in your hoop journey.
And if you're not into Hoop Technique now, I really don't think it's going to be going anywhere. :)
Hope that helped!
