Hey hoopers.
30 years ago today a man died. just a man. but a man that installed the idea of peace within the world.
John Lennon, he was a great musician, father, and husband. and 30 years later his idea of true peace and liberation still buzzes through many generations.
In honor of John Lennon, i ask everyone to put on a Beatles track or some Lennon singles and have a hoop sesh.

I am definitely going to hoop to the Beatles tonight. I was in tears today. It's a very sad day. :(
Sad but hopeful! if we are still remebering his death 30 years later his memory is living on and his message of peace. Traditional beatles music tonight with a side of "Across the universe"
I will hoop for John and how he spread the message of peace throughout the world. Revolver is a GREAT hooping album. I will say, he had a tendancy to be very violent in his personal life. He treated his wives very badly at times, his first child he abandoned and ignored for the most part. I don't bring this up to bring the man down, I bring this up because we all have ideals of who we want to be, the type of impact we want to make on the world, and we all fall short of what we aspire to attain in many instances. I personally have a lot of times that I think about whether your a hypocrite if you aspire to be a peaceful, healthy, happy, appreciative, grateful, humble person, but you fall short of that or find yourself going off for no reason. What happened to all the peace and emotion processing I was JUST preaching to others? I now know that it is important to forgive myself, and that trying the best I can is the best I can do, and that every time, I'm getting better. There was a Tibetan Monk that spoke about this, he said people always have the image that monks are in perfect harmony and peace, enlightened creatures, above human emotion and influence. He said "NO! That is what we WISH to be, what we TRY to be. To claim that we never get angry or feel hurt or sad or frustrated would not be truth. I sometimes get angry when people make fun of me for my bald head." It touched me so deeply, that this monk was able to make that clarification. It really made me realize that even if I do slip up and throw a fit over something that doesn't matter, I AM human, its bound to happen, and that I CAN accept and appreciate that experience, without considering it a bad thing that happened. I can forgive myself, we all deserve forgiveness. I think that John is a good example of how you face the worst in yourself, and you live through some things you don't like about yourself, but its what you send out into the world that makes a difference. Each person in his life had a unique experience of him, some good, some bad, but he is a legend, and I am deeply touched by the contributions to global peace awareness that he made. We were just talking the other day about a commercial calling the Beatles the band that changed the world. They really did. Love!
This is such a good point. John was a profoundly flawed man, and he was able to not only rise above his flaws, but to admit to them as well.
love love love john lennon.
thank you for posting this!
So glad you made this, I was about to get on and the same. Thank you.
I have been listening to Lennon all week. He is truly missed in my book. He was/is an inspiration to so many. I will hoop in his honor today.
Tonight I will be hooping to Abbey Road. Its my favorite Beatles album for hoopdance.

Rolling Stone Magazine actually did an interview with John Lennon 3 days before he was killed. The full interview has never been released until now. The full interview is finally going to be printed in the new issue that comes out this week.

Check out a litle story about the interview, along with clips and photos, here.

One of my favorite photos ever is the shot of a naked John snuggled next to a fully clothed Yoko.
Totally respecting John here! I feel kind of old though. I actually REMEMBER the day he died. Thirty years ago already? I was 13. YIKES!

My mother was/is a huge Beatles fan. I grew up listening to their music, and by the time I was 8 or 10, I'm sure I knew almost every song of theirs by heart. I remember that day, 30 years ago, when I woke up in the morning and came upstairs before school. I found my mother crying as she tried to get ready for work. When I asked her what happened, she told me that John had been killed. She was so sad.

Wow, RIP, John, and thank you for your wonderful contributions to this world!
Will do. The Beatles have been my favorite band since childhood (I'm 26); I think I'll put together a list of his songs and let the flow take over.

It is also my mama's birthday. She said the day he died was the worst birthday she ever had.
He was far from the only one... Peace is possible if we all stop trying to get others to be peaceful and start within ourselves. Id love to hoop for Peace today, John Lennon deserves it.

What a great thing to start, thank you <3
This is an excellent idea. I think I'll put on some Lennon tonight and hoop. If I get a chance I might try to record something. :)
