For me, it kinda depends on what I'm doing. If I'm trying to learn something new I need to alone.  I get really serious and kind of obsessive when I'm trying to get a move down.  but if it's just jammin' out I definitely would rather spin with friends!

So I really am sort of new to hooping and have done lots of both. What I have found is that I will push myself a lot harder to "master" new tricks if there are people even in vicinity of me. I don't know why but I challenge myself more.

But I agree with Amanda on learning difficult tricks I try them in the back yard first :o)

Most of the time I enjoy hooping alone more most, but that's because I have total control of the music, I find I have to be really really in to the music in order to find my flow and i'm most happy hooping when Im in that zone :)

I really enjoy hoop jams for me they feel like just hanging out with friends except there is much more hoop talk and I get the chance to watch other hoopers and get new ideas :) I don't hoop with others very often but I do enjoy it when I do.

As for in crowds, crowds don't really bother me, if i'm at a festival and the music is killer then it feels just like i'm all by my self I don't notice the other people.  But I do have to say that, that level of comfort took awhile to build up I was very nervous hooping in crowds for the a long while till I got enough confidence in my self to say screw what others think of my hooping :)  I'm having fun and that's all that matters :)

Hooping alone, with others, or in a crowd all have their time and place for me. I think my favorite though is with friends. Like Splynk said, it's like hanging with friends while practicing tricks and learning from each other.

I prefer hooping alone and when I am performing in front of a crowd.  I am completely in my element during those times.  I have two friends that hoop, and as much as I like being with them, I don't like hooping with them because I find that I don't really get a satisfying hoop session out of it and I never really get into my zone. I am an introvert and I've always preferred my own company over the company of others', so this seems pretty natural for me.

Well, when you hoop alone, you can pretend you're *really* good even when you're messing up all over the place.  Also, you have the opportunity to hoop in as little clothing as possible, which is great for learning new moves!

I really prefer hooping with people. I love the energy it brings. I love being able to watch others when I need a break, and I love interactively hooping with my friends. Plus, I love when someone sees me nail a baddass new trick. It feels like I didn't just imagine it if there was a witness ;)

I usually like hooping with others. The only times I want to hoop alone are when I'm being meditative.

I like to hoop both ways. I picked p hooping at a festival so it was nice to of started in a group. Shows are great places to hoop at...personally i like festivals because you can be by yourself and around people all at the same time! Us NH hoopers should unite and make our way out to a show together

It depends for me. Sometimes I'm in the mood to just be with myself, and other times I love being around all of the positive energy of people at festivals.

Hooping by myself helps me find my center and to try out creative things where I know I won't loose my hoop and flys off to hit someone... Hooping solo is such a spiritual high for me. I live just outside of Baltimore (next to I-83...busy interstate and lots of highway noise) but where I hoop, it's so green and lush! I hoop so much out of my back patio, that the lush grass turned into a dirt circle! haha (what's also creepy is that it's the size of my hoop... weird-ola!!!)

Hooping with other hoopers and with the crowd at festivals, it's def an energy high for me. That's where I go to shine and spread the positive energy I get from just being with my hoop. I have an LED and wherever I go with it, people ask to hoop with it because it's so special. I let them hoop, and they really feel the positive vibrations that emit from my circle of joy! :D

So, I love hooping everywhere, basically! haha ^_^

I'm with you on sharing the hoops!  I love hooping with others and all, but when they want to use my hoops I get worried.

I had a friend who was borrowing my hoops and then she started doing kickstarts on the asphalt!  I made those myself, and they got all marred and scratched up.  I know that was gonna happen eventually, but I'd like to be in control of when that does happen.  One of them was practically brand new at the time.

And as for others using my LED hoop....omg, that was a Christmas gift from my bf and was craaazy expensive.  I'd be terrified of someone messing it up!

I guess as long as you establish a few rules for the handling first, it'd be okay...but they'd also have to be an experienced hooper so I know they're not going to make a massive mistake and hurt it. ; . ;

I seem to always do my best when I'm alone, I still like hooping with others tho.
