I'm first & foremost a runner, so the proper pair of sneakers is a huge part of any fitness activity for me. I keep the mileage on my running sneaks & therefore do not allow anything but in them. And my everyday sneakers feel a little under supported. I'm in the market for a decent pair of sneakers I can hoop & crosstrain in, and because they will be dancing shoes, they have to be colorful :)~ What do the rest of my fellow hoopers prefer to wear on their feet when they hoop?

Honestly, nothing is best! ;)

Agreed!  Screw the shoes!
Moccasins. They are unbelievably comfy and there not big and bulky as other shoes.
Don't do moccasins, they have little to no support in the sole and it's how I had my accident (wearing my moccasin boots).

Kinda don't like anything but barefoot...but I am learning to work it out while wearing some simple, low Chuck's. Only shoe that feels right/connected when I am hooping. Esp. if it is somewhere like an outdoor area with harder ground/planking or just rougher than your barefoot can deal with. Trainer's are too fat and wide for me (no connection to the ground) even though I love them for outdoor jogging.

But barefoot on some lovely green grass?  Nothing better IMO :)

At Hoop Fest New England, we saw people with "barefoot shoes" by Vibram.  I guess runners wear them to get close to that barefoot feeling, but still have support.  And hoopers like them to not have to hoop barefoot in wet grass.

I'm a fan of converse too, when barefoot is not an option. But I've been wanting to get some ballet slippers for hooping indoors to prevent sore feet from spinning.
As close to barefoot as possible!  I am a fitness instructor and have some knee and achilles issues so footwear is extremely important to me but for hooping I want the bare minimum.  I'd go barefoot but I mostly practice in my backyard and I have a dog, so... :)  I have a pair of Keens that are kind of like a maryjane ballet slipper.  They have the protective Keen toe cover but the rest is soft and minimal.  I love them.
Barefoot is the only way to go. When it gets cold, I might find some grippy slipper socks or possibly converse, but only if it's REALLY cold. I live in Houston, so this doesn't happen often.
Vibrams!  They feel great with good ankle support :]
I go barefoot as much as I can (especially when incorporating foot hooping).  When I can't go barefoot, for whatever reason, you can find me wearing anything from flip flops to sneakers to Vibram 5 finger shoes/
