When I first started hooping, I hooped every day for an hour or more. That phase lasted about three months, then the weather got cold and I backed down to a few hours a week, plus a lot of indoor classes.
A year and a half later, I go in and out of phase. At the moment I am hooping a fair amount- a little bit almost every day and lots on some days! I run a few hoop jams, so those days are pretty packed with hooping. Last Sunday - 6 hours playing non-stop. Twice this week, a good 45 minutes in the sunshine. Yesterday about 90 minutes. Today...it's threatening rain.
i try to hoop everyday. i have kind of included it in my repertoire of "fun exercise." its never like a "i have to" thing but more like a "cant wait to do it" thing. every once in a while ill skip out- like today bc of the rain- or ill get to hoop multiple times a day. but pretty much any time i get the chance, im hooping. so in terms of hours per week id say about 6-9 on average. now... talking/thinking about hooping or doing something hoop related (like hoopcity :P)... thats a totally different figure. thatd be more like 10 hours a day haha. i do believe quality is more important than quantity, though.
I hoop every day unless it is just impossible for some reason. Even if I can only fit in 15 minutes, I have found daily hooping is good for my soul!
Lately I have been on a mini hoop tear & I'm usually burning to hoop & learn new moves & transitions with my newest tiny minis. I can go for hours with these little babies without getting exhausted or hurting myself, & when time allows I do! Our hoop jams have been getting longer & longer too... I love it!
I'm on day 4 of hooping, I find that I'll do 2 half hour sessions. One at like 8 or 9 pm and then the other at midnight. And the more I'm learning and improving the longer I'm staying outside working on it. It helps me wind down. :)
