Okay, I've tried a bunch of different pairs of yoga-type and dance-type pants, and they all fall down while I'm hooping. Drives me nuts. I plan to make a few outfits that have a halter top connected to the pants at the waist.

In the mean time, anybody got any suggestions?

Wow, I'm so glad someone mentioned this. I always attributed it to being overweight, but of course that's my default reason for everything (I don't look good doing that trick because I'm overweight... I blahblahblah can't because I'm still overweight). I have trouble with both my shirts riding up and my pants falling down.

So far the only thing that's worked is longer shirts and buying yoga pants with draw strings to tie them tighter. Lululemon pants work, especially since you can tie the drawstring inside the pants so they don't stick out. I'd love to hear other suggestions. How are you going to attach the halter to the pants?
I hate riding shirts! I have that problem even when I'm not hooping. It's turned into an obsessive habit to constantly tug my shirt down- all the time!. I guess I should just hoop topless haha.
I wear yoga pants & shorts with a slightly tighter waistband or I do the drawstring and have the drawstring tucked inside my bottoms to avoid wrapping it around the hoop. My problem is hooping in a skirt; I wear yoga shorts or tights under my skirt but because I have a tiny waist and all my pants/shorts/skirts sit at my hips, I end up with my skirt right under my boobs! This happens with regular skirts even when I'm not hooping -- if it's stretchy jersey, then I don't have this problem.

I think the best solution is to make your own clothes with fabric you know will stay put. That's what I'm going to do; my whole wardrobe for hooping and Bonnaroo has already been planned for a month: self-made skirts, dresses, yoga shorts, leggies and no-tie halter bikini (or even regular halter) tops. I find I hoop best in these and I might as well just make it myself. Although, if you're on etsy.com, look up HerbanDevi. She hoops and I asked her about hooping in her clothes, she said it would definitely work. She uses stretchy jersey type materials and they look soooo cool.

And your halter jumpsuit/romper/one-piece idea sounds awesome!
I have a pair of the herbandevi "beyond yoga" pants and they're lots of fun to hoop in. My husband says they're the hottest pants I own. LOL

As always, Maxine, you crack me up! My pants tend to slide down even when I'm not hooping, so I don't have much advice. Learn how to hitch 'em up without dropping the hoop?
OMG!!! I just looked up those pants.... in LOVE !
I covet her entire collection. I can't decide what I want to buy first!
I definitely want some pants.... but green? blue? black? I don't think I could pick just one!
I'm pretty sure she has burgundy too. Oh, and she made this awesome stretchy pocket belt that I messaged her about; it can be used while hooping. I don't think it's currently up there but check her sold items. :-)
OMG THIS STUFF IS GREAT!
thanks for the great find~ and the fabric is good for knee hooping and what not?
I dunno .... Tangled Macrame, can ya knee hoop in 'em? I didn't ask Jennifer about it when I messaged her on Etsy.
Higher waists work for me. Most of mine fit rather snug around the waist, so I don't really have that problem - unless I am dancing in looser pants that hang off my hips.

I gotta say - I love your posts!

Ish.
Hahhaah, love the topic title.

I have similar problems with some of my pants. Elastic + drawstring + natural waist = pants in place. Other combinations are not as certain. For me, the worst are leggings under a skirt. The leggings always slide down. I want suspenders.

I have a unitard which I totally love. It is cotton lycra, so its stretchy but not skintight. I wish I had more of those. I will have to make a few.
