OK, so I've never got to try hula hooping on the wii before. Now as some one who has been hooping for 8 years I'm thinking I would either be really great or completely horribly hopelessly awful. so can hula hoopers succeed at hooping on the wii or do we just have too much practical experience? Who's tried this? Not that real hooping can be replaced with the wii but I've always been curious.

I've tried it and had a hard time getting the right motion. Its not the same as real hooping, you really need to swing your center of balance around in a circle, which left me feeling very unbalanced. I actually fell off the balance board!

My boyfriend ended up being really good at Wii hooping and mocked me incessantly about it!
I tried the hula hooping game with the wii fit before I started hooping in real life. Granted I just started that too- but I agree with Alli Rae- The wii is way different- because you have to swing your hips in complete circles, and then afterwards they show you how neat or sloppy your circle's were.
I haven't hooped on the wii, but my cousin's four-year-old son has. When I offered him one of my homemade hoops to try, he couldn't figure out what to do with it, and no matter how many times I explained and demonstrated it, he just couldn't get the concept. He ended up holding it vertical and tossing a small ball through it... Oh, well, maybe when he's a little older I'll give it another shot.
I have never tried this but have heard a lot about it, BUUUUT I do have a funny story.

Last year after a HUGE fire performance where there were thousands and thousands of people I was walking my gear back to my friends car and someone said, "Awwww man you guys are done hooping?" I say, yep all done, she said, "That was awesome, you know I'm a hooper too!" (keep in mind im exhausted from performing 4 times for this show and from hooping eariler) So i just keep walking and say awesome, keep it up. Then I hear her keep talking as I am still walking away, "I do my wii hula hoop everyday and I'm so good at it, I beat everyones score." I didnt know what to say because all I wanted to do was laugh, so I just said, have a good night. I mean, really??? standing and moving your hips with no hoop is a hooper. I still laugh about that. But I am not a rude person and didnt want to put her down.
There are times to bite one's tongue. I'd never want to demean someone, but I would have had a hard time not laughing out loud. Even as I type on this "virtual community" page, I have issues with the direction we are going where we think mimicking something is the same thing as doing something. Experiencing something translated by a computer is not the same tactile experience as the real thing. I see the shift in myself and have to laugh at my own hypocrisy. (But wii hooping still bugs me!)
yes i would never want to make someone feel lesser than me because of how I feel. That is not fair, it was like 1 am, I hooped all day and we did a good 1 1/2 hour performance, and I was spent and this was my last encounter of the night.
It was just strange to me at that moment, if I could go back and had hoops that were not fire hoops, I would have handed her one and said, here take this baby home.

I feel bad to snicker now but it was really funny at the time, because her timing was pretty funny and the way she said it was funny.

But she sounded so serious that her wii hooping was real! I just dont get video games and how serious people are about them, but then again people dont get me and how serious I am about hooping!
