Maybe something like this? http://www.thespinsterz.com/products/Replacement-Fire-Hoop-Spine.html  Although it would need something inside the hoop to screw it into. 

Honestly, I would just get quick wicks and make your own hoop with your tubing and leave them attached. They are only a few dollars more than the spines I linked above and would be way less complicated. That way you know they are safe too and well attached.

Well what's the difference between those wicks and the polypro wicks? could I not just use the polypro ones on my HDPE tubing that I have? They're probably lighter, right?

Polypro?  You mean quick wicks?  In that case, yes.  And you woulnd't need to drill into your hoop.

When I first started making fire hoops, I got pretty much everything from Home Depot to start.  they've gone a little downhill on the bits and pieces stuff, sometimes a good Ace hardware will outdo them.  And Hollywood has a great OSH, can't speak for all of them.  But you can get all your parts there.  

If you MUST make your own stuff, please take a look at the NAFAA tool construction guidelines, section 4 of this document: NAFAA 2.1

I was looking on the spinsterz sight and if you look at their "hoops" stuff, the have two different types of wicks. They're both the screw in kind but one is labeled polypro. I wasn't sure what the difference is besides looks. The polypro one looks like it's lighter. There's not much detail on their site so I wasn't sure if putting the polypro wicks on my HDPE tubing would be bad. I'm interested because they're cheaper

Polypro refers to the type of HOOP, not wicks.

whoa, my bad, yeah, well, they're wicks FOR polypro hoops.  

Hehehe, even they have gone cable.  :)  Looks like the PPwicks are the new thing and the old ones with the rubber parts are wisely being supported but hopefully phased out.

Either way, you'll have to drill into your hoop and make an attachment for them.

But if you're just looking for light wicks...

Those aren't, But the SafetyFlex ones are.
