I would strongly recommend not buying equipment from Trick Concepts, it is not of good quality and there customer service leaves much to be desired!

Hi Lovely Hoopers,

this is basically a re-posting of my previous complaint. For the two or so hours it was up I had 6 responses saying that they had either had bad experiences or had heard or tem or worse; both!

Trick Concepts have given me a great dela of stress and i have tried to explain the situation in the most calm and subjective way possible, but if you pick on any strife then it has seeped in due to there being so much of it in the first place! please excuse me if you feel like this. I really feel that Trick Concepts needs to sort these problems out as I am not the only person to suffer from there lack of professionalism.....

In late April (27th) of this year myself and my friend placed an order from Trick Concepts for two sets of fire fans.

When the fans arrived one set broke as soon as we started using them and we noticed that all the welding on them was very poor. It was lumpy, on some points there was not enough solder in the correct places for the connection to hold properly and on one connection the solder had been filed away so much that the integrity of the whole spoke was compromised.

So I emailed Trick Concepts informing them and offered to send the fans back. As the welding was bad on both sets of fans we did not want a replacement, just a simple refund. I contacted them on the 19th May which is clearly within the 60 day return policy to complain and ask how i could get a refund.

There were many emails that bounced backwards and forwards as Jaz from Trick Concepts didnt seem to understand that we did not want a replacement. I sent him photos of the poor quality welding and weak connection to show him the problems. I boxed the fans up and took them to the post office and found out how much it would cost to return them with the correct insurance for how much the fans had cost. I emailed Jaz to inform him of the postage costs and requested that Trick Concepts pay for the return of the fans.

Jaz then said that they would not pay for any postage.

Some time passed and finally i got response from Trick Concept saying that as they wouldnt pay for postage I could keep the fans and that they would refund me $250 dollars. They said that they would send a cheque, great problem solved right?

No.

Then they started ignoring me.
They didnt send a cheque.

About two weeks ago my friend finally snapped and started posting on Facebook informing everyone of what they had done.

Finally Jaz emailed back! and have sent a cheque, but only for half the price, $125, saying that he knew nothing about the email in July clearly stating that they would pay us the cost of both sets of fans; $250

He has also said that we contacted him outside of the 60day returns policy, which as you have clearly seen for yourself is wrong and that he didnt understand why both orders were together when it was only one order!

At this point another lady called Pamela from Trick Concepts emailed and asked if I wanted a returns label, why they didnt tell me about this months ago i will never know!

I have never had so many problems with an online company before, they have made me angry, upset and I will never buy anything from them again.

To summarise:

Dont order any equipment from Trick Concepts
It is poor quality
They will not refund you
They may ignore you
They may lie to you
They are incompetent
It will cause you more stress and problems than what it is worth.

I love your prods Jaz & Scorch.  90% of all my fire gear is through you guys...and I have a *lot* of fire gear. ;)

As a fire performer for The Burn Academy, almost every one of our 40-person conclave uses Trick Concepts fire gear exclusively.
In my experience, their fire tools rarely malfunction, and when there is a problem it is solved in a prompt and professional manner.
I depend on that quality and service every time I step on stage.

I have personally spoken with the people at that company, including and especially the owners. They are a very busy but very nice bunch. But the point remains, in the quality of their products and treatment of their customers, they have always done their best to accommodate every fire spinner I know who works with them.

Also, isn't this a hoop forum?
I would say that the quality can be a little below par. A friend and I ordered a fire hoop from them in July. In November, it snapped in 2. Haven't had any problems with the other hoop we ordered in September, but that has yet to be seen. I'd say do a lot of research before you buy anything fire. I went with the easiest and good price I could find. Didn't do much research, I know I can find a better hoop now if I wanted one, but Trick Concepts isn't the worst place you could buy a toy from either.
Hmmmmm....
this is odd. i ordered an LED hoop from them which i returned due to problems but on the contrary, they were so kind about things. i got a full refund back.

very, very kind, helpful people.

ditto...ive had issues with the LED i got from them a year ago and im kinda bummed because in jan it will be at the end of its one year warranty which means if it craps out again im on my own which sucks.  i had the battery charger die, then the battery got fried, then the hoop itself crapped out and i had to send it back for repair.  the shipping charges were on my dime which sucked, but they were helpful.  when i called though to inquire about the status of my LED being fixed they told me it was shipped out that day and wouldnt provide me with tracking info.  after a week i didnt see it so i called again and the same lady told me it was going out THAT day.  i was kinda pissed at this point because i shipped it out 2 weeks prior telling them i needed it for a show...i didnt appreciate being lied to :(

I have one of there led hoops. I like it, but I have only had it two months. I'm sorry you went through all that:(

Personally I have been at the receiving end of poor quality service and products--not by Trick Concepts, I have nothing of theirs I should point out--and I understand how difficult it can be to get the answers you need.  Sometimes all it takes is an apology or an acknowledgment of your issue... that's it!

I think posts like this one are appropriate.  It keeps businesses accountable.  The best advertising a business can get is by word of mouth, and sometimes that is all we have as power as consumers.

Scorch and Jaz are cool folks who care about their customers and the firespinning community.

i read this last time you post this and i still think what they pulled was bs!!

Hola,

I understand what your saying. I ordered a hoop from trick concepts and it wouldn't work for the first while. Something to do with the batteries. They sent me two different chargers which both didn't work. When that didn't work I manged to call and I got to speak to a very helpful girl. I was on the fence about asking for my money back or getting a new one. I just wanted a decent hoop. At the time I didn't have another 100 to spend on a hoop, so trick concepts is what made an LED hoop available for me to buy.

Ended up I sent the broken one back and I called and told them the tracking number and she shipped it to me right away.

They have area's they need to improve on. They are like the Walmart of hooping. You go to wallmart because its cheap not because they have the best products or the most amazing customer service.

Trick concepts provides affordable toys, if having a few mix up's with them isn't your style then save your money and give it to someone like comic rob or holistic. They both have spectacular hoops and customer service.

one of the things that I love about the hoop community is how loving and accepting we are. I don't see that changing just because someone got a crappy hoop. A year from now I'd rather say I had a bit of understanding, took respounsibilty for my part in the situation and showed some love in the end.

Twirl the love around hoop ladies.

a friend of mine was hooping with her LED hoop the other day and dropped it. when she did, it went off and the only way it would come back on is if the battery got pushed BY HAND into the part that its supposed to connect with to keep the hoop on. Not only that, but the green LEDs in her hoop were faulty to begin with...they were supposed to be solid LEDs and they barely stay on. The hoop is only a couple months old....

Not the best quality if you ask me...
