It's a lot to take in but I wouldn't say it's BAD-- I think most of us started with body hoops, but especially if you have poi experience, you might take to minis right away. And it's nice to be able to switch it up when you get tired, frustrated, or bruised. If you start feeling overwhelmed with too much to learn, just scale back & concentrate on one or the other for a while. I didn't take up minis until I'd been hooping ~8 months, & I was a slow starter with two, but now I can't put 'em down!
You can't learn one then the other because the learning for the first one never ends. Jump in, play and enjoy all of your hoops. I mix up my hooping depending on my mood and find that different sized hoops are good to have around.
I love this response-- so true! Not only are there endless new moves to learn but new understandings of old ones, new transitions, new hoops, new music & personal style to add to the mix. This may be my favorite thing about hooping! And I agree about having many sizes too-- no matter what mood I'm in, or what moves I'm craving, I know there will be something hoopy to make me happy!
ha ha i love the hoopy to make you happy comment and thanks i think im going to try to focus on the minies mon-wed then the body hoop thurs-sat and mix it up on sunday and see what happens
I made a set of twin minis after being inspired by a couple of vids... I'm not too good at it yet but when my hands are so bruised from practicing the three beat weave with my bigger hoops or I'm too overheated from hooping in my apartment with a single hoop I switch to a mini just to try it out. Here's the vid that I really enjoyed: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RXovzUr9ewM
