Is Jump Rope considered a flow toy? (Kings Firecrackers video)

If not I think it should be!  My son was just lamenting how hard jumping rope was... oh how I used to love it as a kid, before my knees gave out!  But I was never anything like these girls.  Absolute masters of the rope!

This is a great question.

I would think a jump rope could be flow toy, and how they use it for sure. They are phenomenal! I was just talking to my friend, Trey this weekend, and to CircularPraise about how I was thinking of breaking out my baton and flags. I used to be in Color Guard and twirled baton too. I was in love with both just as passionately as I am hooping, and I miss doing them. I thought, why not break those items out and update their movements as flow toys. Flag corp movements are a lot like staffs, and I know I've seen LED batons.

I'm in the opinion that we can have "flow" and "bliss" with a lot of things.
My good friend Betty Adorno does a flag routine that is definitely dance flow.

Check out the video!

Ack! At work, and can't see youtube! I can't wait to see it when I get home!
I love jumping rope!! I used to do it all the time untill I got overstraining (if that's the right word for it ;) ) Now I just do jump troughs all the time with hoops :p. It's very popular in Belgium, but nobody here as ever heard of the word 'flow' or 'flowtoys'.

Have you guys ever seen double dutch? I've tried this a few times and I would love to do it again:

Loved double dutch as a kid, though I was just playground material, definitely not in these guys league.

Did you see the vid above? There's a part about 1:45 where they are doing... I think it's like octuple dutch with ropes that look about 20 feet long! The mind reels.

Flow toy for sure!
My friend Kristin just lit up a fire jump-rope! I didn't get to see it in action but she says it's amazing.
YIKES! Sounds gorgeous but terrifying!
I did jump rope when I was a kid, there was a day called "Jump Rope for Heart" day, and I think it was to raise awareness for.. something. I don't know, I was a kid and they didn't really explain it. All I knew was that for a month the whole school would practice different jump rope tricks together and work out a couple of routines, and then on that day parents and family would come and watch the whole school do this big routine together. It was awesome. I have been wanting to get a jump rope for a while now, and continue to look at the fire ones on Home of Poi longingly, haha. But I think a basic one would do now, I just need to find one the right length for my height.
A lot of fitness jump ropes now are actually adjustable so you can get it just right. I only wish my knees weren't so rotten... it's not worth making them worse but honestly I really miss it!
Yeah I shudder to think how much exercise ropes may cost though. Sports shops always seem to bump up the price of things. But I will have to check them out. I'd LOVE an LED jump rope!
Here's one under $10-- not cheap compared to the old school kind but cheaper than an LED! (That does sound super tempting though.)
