So if you perform in front of a crowd, do you use jokes, or just music, or what? Where'd you learn that?

Also, can we use that? :3

I think jokes make performances MUCH better...they put the audience at ease and determine that people are multi-talented. Or, do you think it distracts from the performance?

Good topic :)

I think adding some jokes and different talents into a performance is a great idea.

Just make sure they are GOOD jokes. I am so sick of dirty and sexual jokes.. I find they ruin the whole performance for me, especially when it's labelled a family friendly show, and there are children all sitting close around the front while the guy is humping his prop and telling another kid to come up and do it with him while they are unaware of why people are laughing. Ha, just as one example.

Wow that is the worst joke ever, poor kid, the parents probably were pissed too.

There is a lot you can do to enhance your shows. One thing a lot of crowds like is interaction in any way not just jokes. Like having beater hoops you can let people try, learning to use a different prop, and depending on the gig you could walk around the crowd hooping and joking around with people.
There is tons of stock material u can always use. I like jokes but they are always act specific. Like my last show my assistant was my "lovely ukranian bride, she arrived here via fed ex this morning" Ba dum bum psh! Basically decide a biy or a theme then decide whats best.
Hm, stock material? Where can I find this?
All over the place. They are in just about every show. For example, some guy performs the human blockhead act where he hammers a nail into his face (through the nose), then removes it "ladies and gentlemen the nail is real, the hammer is real, its the head thats fake" *ba dum bum psh* "i thought there might have been blood on the nail but its snot" *badum bum psh* etc etc
I usually just walk on, do it, walk off and leave them wanting more haha. There have been some shows for children where I've asked them questions like, "do you want to see some magic?" commence isolations :P But usually I don't talk, and just have a song playing.
