ok, so i bought a moodhoop which was quite expensive recently. i've had this hoop for about a month or two. i was hooping today and i have no idea how but my hoop kinked in two different places. is there any way i can fix this? for some reason i guess kinked and bent hoop tubing isn't covered by their warrenty because of people bending or kinking them when they're trying to coil them down. (which is definitely not what happened here, i'm not a dummy.) anyways, SOMEONE HELP PLEASEEE! how do i fix this?
how big is your hoop & what size tubing did you get? sometimes hoops can kink when you're hooping too hard with them (especially with reversals/breaks). i'm not sure there's a fix for it. you could try to add some clear packing tape to the kink and hope that it doesn't get worse. :\
"Large: 38" diameter, 24 LED's, 7/8" OD tubing, weighs 20 ounces, good for beginners and intermediate hoopers, standard size, no extra charge"
in the heat when hoops kink you hoop regular on the waist with them for about ten minutes and set it flat. so maybe hoop and set it flat, and has it been stored leaning up against the wall, my moodhoop started to shape funny so i just lay it flat. sometimes leaning them up against the wall will make them kink or shape funny, mostly because of the weights in them. i have heard a few people with this problem, its terrible.
it's not polypro. i do store it sitting up against a wall, i don't know why that would cause it to bend.
well.. i just got a reply from moodhoops and it'll be $30 for them to re-tube it. $30 that i don't have. haha. this definitely sucks and i don't understand why bent tubing isn't covered in the warranty. :(!!!!!!!!!!!!
Well, kinked hoops can happen for a variety of reasons out of their control - especially things like breaks, reversals, and (missed) jumps. It's usually some sort of trauma to the hoop like a high impact hit or landing on it accidentally when trying to jump through it - that results in the hoop getting a kink in it.
Try boiling a pot of water then holding the tubing where it is kinked over the steam to heat it until its soft. Use a pair of pliers and squeeze the kink back into a round shape. I have done this before and fixed kinks before, im guessing your hoop is made out of hdpe so it might work. Make sure your battery isn't in there while trying to fix it, and if you are able to fix it I would not coil it down ever (even though thats not how you kinked it in the first place but still). Might be worth a try! Good Luck!
i will try that. :3
Is that safe? I would be concerned with doing that since the electronics aren't waterproof.
Here's a thread started by Slang that has some suggestions too on kinked tubing too... http://www.hoopcity.ca/forum/topics/fixing-kinks
Contact moodhoops they have excellent customer service and should be able to help you or try Slang's thread. Good Luck!
