I have a question for you.  I'm not so sure how appropriate this is, but I'm going to go for it anyways even if I do embarrass myself lol.  Do you hoop with a bra on or not?

Honestly, I love just wearing a tank top without a bra and just being au natural but it has become so painful, especially when chest hooping with a 160psi hoop.  I'm finding little bruises everywhere from it too.  The funny thing is is that when I'm not wearing a bra it is so much harder keeping the hoop up while chest hooping, as if my bra makes a huge impact keeping it up.  I'm not very well-endowed so that might be the reason too.

I don't know.  Maybe I'm just not wearing the right clothes to hoop in.  Does anyone recommend a certain type of material or clothing to wear that grips the hoop better?  Or should I just invest in a hoop that is made with multiple grippy tapes?

Hmmm Well I enjoy the no bra approach as well. No annoying straps in the way. But I usually wear a tanktop with a sort of bra built in when going au naturalle.

I think it all depends on your boob size! Mine aren't so big that they are flailing around everywhere so it's pretty painless.

I find hoops grip to skin the best. The less clothes the better... until you start sweating a lot. And then bare skin is just slippery.
I wear one because... well, it hurts otherwise! And it harder to keep the hoop up as well... straps, however, are annoying...
You need a lighter hoop.
Certain times of the month I wear a sports bra.
When you learn something new - bruises happen. generally they go away once you smooth out - but with a 160 p.s.i. I cannot say because that is so heavy.
Even with a light hoop (all mine are 1/2" 125 psi) I prefer a bra... I'm just really sensitive there. And even with a bra I can't stand to chest hoop for more than a minute or so with a really heavy hoop-- ow! It's not a question of keeping the hoop up, but keeping the hooper happy!
I guess it depends on what you are doing...I've done both before. I think I prefer the girls held in, in general. Its goin gto get so hot around here that I am going to sweat buckets and then bare skin will not be so cute. As far as clothing goes, cotton with a bit of texture to it works best whether its the tank top or the sports bra. And grippy tapes always help.
awww to be so lucky to be able to go without a bra! I am jealous.

I am large breasted 38D over here and depending on the bra company I am spilling out

there is no way I can go without a bra and still look classy, there was a reason why they were invented and I am amongst those reasons :)

I too suggest a lighter hoop, or maybe double layering the tank tops!
im with you girl, 34DD over here. havent been able to go bra-less since i was 15!! i can do the tanks with the built in bra but usually dont feel comfortable bc its not hard to tell if i get chilly (hint hint). never had a problem with getting bruises on the girls, though. as far as recommendations for hooping clothes; try to wear all natural fabrics such as cotton, hemp, bamboo, ect. i find that when i where a cotton tank i can chest hoop, shoulder hoop, and do shoulder tricks waaaay better. and grip does really matter. i just made a hoop the other day and only used electrical and no gaff or hockey tape and its hard to keep it up. my breaks/reversals are improving bc the hoop is lighter than what i was using but i really need to add grip. hope this helps.
Instead of buying an expensive grip tape online or a whole new hoop, they have a black 'friction tape' sold in home depot thats in the same area as the electrical tapes... It is grippy enough to do a swirl around your hoop or even just a line around the inside, and the hoop stays up comfortably.. It is a little less sticky than the gaffer, so it wears out quicker, but it is cheap (about $2.50 a roll) and easy to get... I like it...

Or if you want a cheaper white color grippy tape, medical tape works great! I put a line of it around the inside of my led and it works most excellently!
i find that my bra straps constantly fall down when i chest/shoulder hoop and vortex so i wear a sports bra most of the time, especially if im going out at night and bringing the hoop. bathing suit tops are good at summer concerts/festivals too!
Bare arms help immensely.

I am small chested and often will just wear the tank tops that have the shelf bra built in... or else it's a sports bra. I find my shirt pulls too much if I don't have a bra under to hold the shirt in place. Alternatively, wear a bikini top. =)
I forgot to reply to everyone earlier...sorry!! Thank you so much for all of your responses, especially since this was my first posted discussion. I'm glad I'm not the only one who felt this way. I've since downgraded to a 40" hoop that is 100psi. I made it myself last weekend :) I definitely feel a difference hooping at the chest now and it is awesome for knee hooping. I used electrical tape so it's super grippy too.

At home I usually just wear a tank top or a sports bra, but I'm not sure how confident I feel to wear either in public. I have one tank top with a built-in bra so I'll have to get more of those. I have a hoop shop this weekend and just bought a really cute bright orange sports bra from VS so we'll see if I work up the courage to wear in front of other people instead of just in my apartment!

Thanks again!
