I scanned through the discussions and didn't see this specific thread already, if its out there and I'm being redundant I apologize. I'm currently looking(and by looking I mean beating my head against a brick wall) for LIGHTWEIGHT fire hoops. The first on I bought from BearClaw, as great as it was, was SO heavy! CosmicFireDance.com has a special lightweight one with only 5 wicks, I've emailed them through their website as WELL as even through their eBay distributer AND left phone messages with them asking about a 6 wicked custom hoop and I guess they don't feel it important to respond to potential customers because I've been trying to get a hold of a LIVING PERSON of theirs for weeks and no reply back. I wonder if its even a real site. :( I wont send my credit card info to someone thats given me this much doubt that there's even people on the other end so now my search is back on.
Anyone know where to go for a lightweight(2pds or less) fire hoop? Too bad about CosmicFire not caring...their hoops looked nice. :(

Hey there Kanima~ I totally hear you about heavy firehoops on the market. I didn't even know how heavy the hoops were out there until the first Hoop Convergence seeing others' hoops....and I was even more thankful for my personal firehoops. When I first started making my own in 2003, there weren't any on the market. For years I was on a mission to build a firehoop that was light enough be comfortable & sustainable for my body (my heavier firehoops in '04 were causing swelling & pain in my lymph nodes & breasts). I stopped taping my firehoops about 5 years ago & shifted to 1" wicks to decrease weight. That's why most of the hoopdrum firehoops are sanded (tho they can be taped)--- plus Scott's "full circle" sanding creates an extra grippy finish <3. Its one of the most distinguishing features about our firehoops and I think folks really dig the texture. Once Scott & I fell in love, he took over the firehoops and really enjoys the process of crafting and imagining new possibilities. I'm thankful...b/c in all honesty, I used to dread all the work it took to make myself a new firehoop.

Last year, even the 100psi hoops weren't measuring up to what I use in my personal hoop practice. I've been using the polypro tubing for my regular sparkly twins for nearly a year. YUM! During Burning Man prep time, I couldn't see crafting a set of 100 psi hoops so we experimented with the polypro tubing for firehoops....And THEY ROCK! around 14 oz (for 5 wick, 33")! I christened them and let lots of folks use them at Hoop Camp during the twins fire hoop class and they were very well received....I'm in love and re-invigorated for firehooping! I believe this is the tubing that Shakti & Rainbow Michael (Cosmic Fire/Kavailya) are offering for the Ninja Hoops now.

Shakti & Rainbow Michael are dear friends of ours. badass flow artists & master crafters. If their hoops had been on the market when I started spinning fire, I would have been SOOO grateful b/c I could've spent more time sewing & practicing than re-creating firehoops. (But, then I guess I would've never learned so much about hardware & power tools :) I am very surprised that they haven't responded to your inquiry. They are very dedicated to their firehoop business and are in the process of expansion & re-structuring. I know that Rainbow Michael was teaching in Japan for a while and Shakti re-located..so perhaps there was a mis-communication about email forwards or something? I can understand the frustration, but I know they are very caring and wouldn't purposefully disregard your interest.

Good luck!

In fiery flow,
julia
The 3rd email address finally responded and they apologized for having a dead phone number posted still...I"ll be ordering mine on payday after the first. I want something like but at the same time, not TOO light. My LED hoop is SUPER light and I actually prefer it to have a little more bulk to it....my slightly heavier regular DIY hoop grips better from the weight, especially for leg work and whatnot. I think if I saw the sight correctly, the PRO hoop is even lighter than the featherlight....hopefully that should be a nice middle ground for me. The other was what I called my Klingon War Hoop! :)
