I'm very interested in learning the aerial arts--particularly the aerial hoop. I've been googling and searching non-stop, but the only aerial hoops I can find are brand new from companies, and they are all about $300. Does anyone know where I can buy a used lyra? Or one that is cheaper than $300? Anyone have one sitting around that they would like to sell? ;)

And I should mention that I live in a rural area, so taking aerial classes isn't much of an option for me. I would have to drive 2+ hours to take a one-hour aerial class. Plus, on top of the gas money, I would be paying about $25 a class.

I'd also love some more information on where to begin. How do I know what size aerial hoop to get? And the tubing size? Should I choose a size that is comparable to my regular hoop? And also, which is best for beginners...a one point, double point, etc.?

I make and customize my own hoops for 250. They are exactly what you would find at any major production company! They are so expensive because the machine that bends their hoop is almost $7,000. Note there is another way to bend but is far less clean and is still quite expensive.  I know someone who has this machine so I am able to pass on the savings. Check out my page on Facebook. www.facebook.com/harlequin.playshop under the album fly is all the details and pricing. Sizing is typically from your tailbone to the top of your head sitting straight up. I personally love the single point but double point allows it to be either. Just a thought :)

I can answer any questions. PM me!

I make and sell hoops for $200, either hollow steel (13lbs) or solid (27lbs) I have extra space for hands and feet, easy to hold yourself upside down with this extra piece. Let me know if you have any questions!

Bump! Can I get some more info and opinions on single point vs. double and solid vs. hollow?

Also, those of you who make lyras, how much is shipping?

SHipping is $50. I sell hoops $250 total with shipping. 8)

Hollow is about 12 lbs....solid is 27 lbs. solid stays spinning longer and is more stable, but heavier. Single point spins good, double does too if you set it up to pivot at the cable, at one point. Think about the moves you like most and make sure you get the hoop you need.

Thanks for the info...is the hoop pictured taped, it looks black. Do you have a website? Pretty sure I want a double point, so I would attach a swivel at the top? Learning all of this, thanks!
