Hello hoopers!  I am hoping to move West this fall and my boyfriend and I have our hearts fixed on Colorado.  I currently live in Virginia and, while this state has undeniable beauty of its own, I am eager to explore new natural and intellectual landscapes.  I will miss my friends and family so much, but the majority of people where I live are unenlightened and behave in prejudicial, intolerant, and destructive ways.  Furthermore, I am tired of being considered a criminal for the use of a plant that has immeasurable value as a natural medicine.
I want to settle into a loving and accepting community (with hoopers!!) but I don't quite know where to begin.  I was hoping some of you may be able to point me in the right direction.  If you have lived in, or encountered, any particularly special places, please share your experiences. <3

I moved from Virginia to Colorado almost exactly a year ago! Best decision ever! I know how you feel about Virginia and the people that live there. I feel more at home in the West than I ever felt in years of living in the East. I live in Littleton, near Denver. It's wonderful here and still close enough to the mountains. Send me a message if you'd like, we can chat and I can try to help with any questions you have. =]

Boulder can be very superficial. I live her now, moved from NC. The circus center itself is an AMAZING facility however I found the people there to be very unwelcoming and unwilling to help a newcomer out. I'm an experienced hooper and was stoked about the hoop community out there (top 5 on the hoopie awards)...so far I havents really seen it. Boulder Hooped is run by a really nice girl I found in the park once hooping and she has coordinated hiking/hooping events etc. I reccomend those it you end up in Boulder. Also, Boulder is EXTREMELY expensive compared to VA/NC especially rent because its a college town. I really like Summit County and the mountain towns much more. Hope that helped!!

I live up in the mountains near Vail and would love to have the opportunity to get more hoopers out here! Denver or Boulder are both great cities with HUGE hooping communities and tons to do. Make sure you come say hello to me in State Bridge if you move! www.statebridge.com

Denver!! You won't be considered a criminal here and like Camille said, (hi Camille!) I rarely go to the park without seeing other hoopers. If it were'nt for the snow between November & Febuary, I would say it's perfect... almost. Lots of people like Boulder, but it just seems so isolated and unwelcoming up there. Night life is better here, IMO, and this is a very tolerant community. Especially if you move close to cheesman park. :) Golden is BORING! I used to live there...no fun and not as many medical options, there are tons here. Send me a message when you get here, another hoop sistah would be awesome!

Livin' in Denver and absolutely loving it!  Of course, anywhere in CO is incredible really.  :)  Good luck!
