I have two hoops I made. One is 40' 1'' 160 psi and every thing I do scares me, I do not want to hit my face with this. It leaves my sides bruised for days. The other I made is to small, 34'' or 36'', 1/2 , 100psi and have a hard time keeping it up so not useing at the moment, my LED is the same size and im trying to use it without breaking it sence i drop it alot.
I orderd a hoop its 40'' 3/4 i think 125psi, the cloth that is so pretty and wraped around it is giving my neck and sholders rug burns and scraches. My hoops are choaking me, leaving deep bruises and scratching me the F up. Is there a hoop I can make that wont be so mean? Or do I am I being a pussy?

Permalink Reply by Traci "CircularPraise" Bonney on August 8, 2012 at 9:52pm I went polypro a while back, and it made a huge difference in the types and intensity of bruises I got. I rarely have to pull out the arnica cream any more. I bought the tubing online from McMaster-Carr and made my own hoops, but the shipping can get ridiculous. Hoopsupplies.com (ad is probably at the right side of this screen), superhooper.org, and other friends of Hoop City all sell polypro too, in both translucent white and cool new neon/retro colors.
Polypro hoops don't have to be small, either. Just depends on what you want. I have one that's about 41" and another that's 50". With the bigger one, I made it in two halves with button connectors so I can break it down into 25" twins.
As for tape, gaff is a lot friendlier on the clothes and skin than hockey tape. Yes, it costs a bit more, but some vendors are hooper-friendly. At Identi-tape.com, they have a whole menu dedicated to hoop tapes. They also used to offer a discount of 15% off orders of $100 or more. The code was hula hula. I don't know if the coupon is still available; it's been a while since I ordered.
I wish you success in figuring out the perfect combo for your needs. :)
