Hello Hoopers!

I will be teaching a workshop at a gym about an hour away from me around late June early July and was asked what my rates are. I have never taught a class or workshop before so I have no clue where to begin pricing. I was told that the gym charges $20 per person but other than that, I'm not quite sure what to go off of.

What do you feel is a fair rate to charge?

What does the gym do for it's regular instructors? They probably have a plans of some sort. Some pay a flat fee by the hour/class; others pay by the number of students you have in the class. Check with them first.

If they don't have a business model like that, then ask other instructors at that gym what they charge.

If there's no useful feedback from anyone, then ask for 1/2 of the fee that the gym charges the students and see how that goes. $10 per student isn't too bad. And it encourages you to get more students to your classes which is good for you and for the facility.
