Ok people I need some advice! I'm absolutely dying to get a LED. I bought one a while ago but unfortunately I was was too big a bulky for me to handle. I am determined this time to get the perfect hoop. I have been looking at the Atomic hoop and it seems to be amazing. I've recently played with one and it was so beautiful! I am a little nervous on the weight though, I have recently transitioned to a smaller lighter hoop and I am afraid of buying a LED because they are so heavy.

Does anyone have any advice on they type of hoop  I should look into? My main concern is the weight. Are all LED's really heavy and do I just need to get used to them?

Any sort of comments would help me a lot!

I got mine from Mood Hoops and I love them. They have different sizes with different light combinations.

I agree. I love my Moodhoop. Excellent customer service!

Broadly speaking, there are two types of LEDs. Programmable ones, and non-programmable.

1) For non-programmable go with Cosmic Hooper. Best LED on the market. http://cosmichooper.com I feel sorry for hoopers who don't already own one.

2)
Go with 3/4 OD (outer diameter), 5/8 ID (inner diameter) polypro. Have it sanded, but don't bother with tape - as it adds weight. The LEDs will give it enough heft & grip - so tape is unnecessary.

3) IMHO: When it comes to LEDs, go as small as possible. You want to minimize weight.

4) Customer service is a must when it comes to LEDs, as you want a company with a fast turn-around if/when you need repairs or re-sizing. Cosmic Hooper rocks at this.

Programmable hoops are like the Phoenix & Astral. I'm still trying to decide which one to go with - and I have no advise on that.

Hope this info helps.

I Love Love LOVE my atomic hoop! Ive had it for almost a year now, i got a 34 ID which is close to a 36. It's a perfect size and super light (much lighter than my other led which is a cosmic hoop) ... It has 100 LEDs and 90 modes!! you pretty much wont ever need or want another hoop (endless color chooses from solid to strobe to rainbow to crazy glitches!!) I've been working with them doing Referrals for a while now and I have a Coupon code you can use for $10 off!! It's MissHaley ... Just type it in the Referral code box or just follow this link! ......http://astralhoops.com/r/MissHaley .... Happy hooping!!! Oh and it charges in under a hour! :-)

I was the same way! I just got my poly pro from moodhoops today and it's light as a feather. The 5/8 is a good size and mines 36", its very flexible, but that's how I like my hoop. I've heard wonderful things about their 5/8 HDPE too. If you like light hoops try a poly pro, they're wonderful.

Hoops of Creation is totally the way to go. They offer polypro tubing so that takes care of the weight issue. They are an amazing company and taylor is a pleasure to work with. If you go through them tell them I sent you. I promise you won't be disappointed I will ONLY buy from them from here on out!

I recommend getting a Moodhoop to start with. They're durable, many under $100 and light! (They are super flexible with special orders if you want a specific diameter, or polypro) And everything I've heard about the Atomic is they are also lightweight but are prone to issues. So just be aware about the risks.

I want to add that I'm most definitely getting an Atomic in the next few months because I've done a lot of research, weighed the pros and cons and its absolutely the best!!

I suggest checking out CosmicHooper and Mood Hoops!! :) I have both and they are both very lightweight and awesome!

Has anyone ever heard of hyperionhoops.com?  And also, I see most comments say to get a lighter weighted hoop, and I was wondering if it makes it harder to hoop considering the battery side may weigh more?  I keep thinking that the battery might make the hoop too heavy on one side with a battery.

With my Hoops of creations hoop there are 4 batteries that make it run. They are all evening spaced throughout the hoop so that it is perfectly balanced.

I'm not sure the website I'm looking at does, but I did look at hoops of creations.  They are out of my price range, so I may email the company and ask them about the batteries.
