Hello!
So I started working on a new design, this one has only two columns in an effort to de-clutter the main page so things are easier to read and see. I'm still working on fixing a few things that have shifted around, I'm working on a new header that is more 3D and colourful and may also make the module headers a bit 3D with a gradient as well.
I'm also on the hunt for a nice background with a simple and clean pattern. The new chat is super nice, I love how easy it is to use!
What do you think?
Any ideas?
Much love,
Safire

I like it! It's a lot cleaner and am excited to see it with a new background.
It did take me a while to find the featured videos section though. I liked having them on the front when you start up the page for an inspiration spot. I would switch that with the latest activity and have that on the side instead. But that is just a personal preference.

I just played around, you're right, videos front and center is better. As well with the latest activity in the sidebar it's all over the site and the activity changes constantly so it's good to have it visible all the time.
Any thoughts on the background? I haven't paid for the stock photo yet, just downloaded a comp to test it, so the final version won't have any lines on it.

Yes, excellent background choice! :)
I love the grey curlique background.

Excellent, Safire....I love the new swirly background...so pretty!

Really digging it. Love the swirly background and it looks super clean. I really like the font too. :)

I really like the new look! It's playful and clean.
Permalink Reply by Miss Strange on December 27, 2011 at 9:49am Hoop City looks great! I only have one minor stylistic suggestion. Hooping is growing and we know hooping can be for anyone. I think Hoop City's pink link color looks a little frilly, I like pink , but not everyone does and the pink link color is a strain for me to read on top of the white. It's so hard to get this much content organized, especially with so many videos, pictures and changing content. SaFire, Do you do all the code yourself?

The last design I pad someone else to do, but every other design I've done, it's just easier to do it myself.
I hear you on the pink, I've been thinking of switching to a purple and light blue, or maybe make the pink more burgundy.
Permalink Reply by Sarah on December 27, 2011 at 1:41pm Yeah, I agree with hooping really growing among guys (new potential hoop boyfriends, I'm really excited about this XD) maybe a more "gender neutral" color scheme would be more appealing. Don't get me wrong, I love pink, and I love it when a dude can rock pink, and I think a hooper dude would have no problem with it, but the layout is a little feminine and that may send a message that hooping is "only for girls" to less open minded people out there.
