I am so not feeling my hoop today! Do you ever feel this way?
I've been hooping now for 9months and this is the first time I have felt
like this and I do not like it.

It happens. Plateaus happen. Just breathe and choose to either take a rest or hoop anyway. Listen to your intuition.

Coincidentally, Isa just posted a great blog post today that you might like: http://www.templeofpoi.com/blog/2012/08/22-ways-to-rejuvenate-your-...

Here is a blog post I wrote a while back that might help you also: http://circlesofjoy.org/overcoming-plateaus-and-releasing-inhibitio...

Thank you, I will read them

Read it and loved it! You definitely knew how to transmit a hooper's plateau :) your blog post also made me smile and think about other stuff in life besides hooping. Cheers from Mexico!

sometimes i'll make a ridiculous amount of progress over a period of time, and then for a week or so i just don't feel like touching my hoop.  give yourself some time off.  let your body rest.  let what you've learned really sink in.  and maybe think up some stuff you'd like to try to challenge yourself the next time you pick up your hoop.

I've been feeling like that too. Maybe it's just my work pressure. I went hooping to relieve the stress and it worked wonderfully, and now I don't even feel like doing that. I'm so frustrated for stuff that doesn't result as I expected at work, that I'm afraid that if I pick up my hoop and fail to learn a new trick I'll even feel worse. That already happened to me once.

So, until my project deadline is done (week and a half) and I stop over-exploiting myself, and I start to "heal" a bit inside, I'm giving it a holiday.

I read Caroleeena's article on plateaus and I found it beautiful - it gave me a whiff of relief and calm.

Stay happy no matter what! You'll enjoy the hoop again ;)

it happens... there was a 2 year rut i was in where i just didnt feel like teaching myself anything new. it will pass though. when you feel inspired you will hoop!

I was practicing some transitions the other day and recorded it and went back and watched it.  I did something that looked neat so I went back a few frames and you won't believe how awesome it is to watch yourself make every single movement.  I was amazed by just spinning my body. Like a few other discussions have said, Don't forget how excited you were just learning to waist hoop or lasso.  A little plateau is all part of the process!
