Does anyone know what they use to "pad" hoops? I have been trying to find out, but none of the places that sell them have any info. I want to start using the hoop more for cardio, but the ones I have still cause me pain after a 45min workout out. Any suggestions?

Thanks, Danielle...

Buy some foam pipe insulation?
I saw a padded Hoop online for sale somewhere and that is what they used.
I have wrapped one of my hoop in pipe insulation, so it is nice and soft but I find it is very slow and more difficult to hoop with...
I was thinking of padding one of my small hoops to learn foot hooping, since the hoop is always flying off & bashing me in the nose! Definitely slows my progress... I think I'd be less inhibited if I knew I wouldn't end up looking like a losing prize-fighter.

I didn't know where to start so thanks for posting this!
i hear you. i have a big ol' bruise on my eye orbital and one on my lip. Ouchy.
My mom finished doing a yarn hoop today for on sister for the same reason, (it took her forever!) and it is pretty *padded* feeling and not incredibly bulky or heavy, maybe try something like that.

Wow, that looks cool, and really usual colours.
Wow, that's perfect-- I have a bunch of yarn leftover from various knitting projects-- couldn't bring myself to throw it away but never seemed to find a use for it. Until now! Thanks so much for the idea! How did she make it stick?
It was like a over under tie thing, it seemed simple, i'll have to ask her exactly what its called so maybe if there is a tutorial on here you could look it up. The knot was so tight that you could hardly see/feel it and on the outside of the hoop, i remember it was very time consuming because it was a single knot for every loop.
Could it be some kind of macrame knot that she used?
That's awesome!
here's how i did it.

i used 5/8 pipe insulation. (mine was dark grey and came in 8 ft length, so i had to get 2)
3M spray glue (or any i'm sure)
1/2" hoop because with the padding it'll be like the size of 1" make sure it has weight because the insulation, to me, makes it feel lighter.

1. The 5/8 is a little big and my store doesn't have 1/2 insulation, split it down the middle. Then, i just went and cut off a little sliver all the way down, so it would fit more snug around the hoop.

2. Put the insulation around the hoop opening split to the outside. Start at one side and spay A LITTLE down the split (some on hoop some where the two sides will meet...and its ok to get it on the outside tape will cover it no problem) wait a few seconds then hold it together. Don't spray to much or it doesn't dry quickly. Just make your way around the hoop doing that. It took me about 30 minutes to do that.

3. Wait about 30 minutes to start taping and you have a professional looking SOFT hoop.

OR you could always just cut the insulation to size and attach it to your hoop when practicing a trick because it'll stay on AND you can take it back off :)

hope this helps! i love my that padding on my hoop.
