This video is a crack up for anyone who's negotiated a budget for a hoop performance.

Pefection! The only thing they forgot was the, "We want you to donate your time because it would be good publicity for you" meme.
ha ha I got that exact line while I was art school and a soon-to-be-open bank (my dad was dating the director) wanted a mural done on their building for the opening... of course for free. When I asked if supplies would at least be paid for I got the cold shoulder and "we're going to find someone else"...

Publicity is great, but not when you're shelling out hundreds of dollars for something that isn't even your idea in the first place.
You'd think a bank would have a few bucks to spare! But really it's often the richest clients who have that sense of grandiose entitlement. And can't understand why we're not falling over ourselves to satisfy their whims. Urgh....
Ha ha, this one made the rounds of graphic designers/illustrators awhile back, but I think it applies to any "arty" field... I'm not a hoop performer but oh boy can I relate.
It applies to hoop crafting also!
I can def. relate to this... it seems that very few people are willing to invest in hoop dancers for their events, but we also are just getting started at a troupe this year. Ina couple of years I am hoping that things will be different.
ha ha ha ha!!!! so funny! i hear that stuff all the time! It's nice to know there of thousands of other people in the same boat!
Nice one! So, so true. In so many different situations, too.
