I'm going to be making some polypro hoops and I've noticed that in most of the videos where polypro hoops are being used they are usually sanded and not taped.  Is there a reason for this besides the lightness of the hoop?  I'd like to tape mine because I just enjoy the look of pretty tapes.  Will it really add that much weight to the hoop if I tape it?

This is what superhooper.org says about their poly pro:

All PolyPro hoops are sanded
down to provide grip. We sand all
surfaces of the hoop. Let us know
by email if you prefer no sanding, or
inside sanding-only.

We do not recommend taping this
type of tubing. Tape dramatically
alters the performance of the hoop
by increasing its weight and cutting
down on its response time.
adding tape really adds a significant amount of weight. i have 5 polypro hoops and i decided to tape one - not happy. i want to take the tape off, but  then again, i like pretty tape too. so i left the other 4 untaped. plus if you sand the hoops, you can't tape it. doesn't stick well.
I regularly tape sanded hoops without issue. I tend to use gaff and vinyl for it though. not as much mirror or holo.
hhmmm this empowers me more to work on my new hoop project.

:'( I want a polypro hoopppp. Too bad, the polypro tube is not available here in my country (or it is but I couldn't find one) I could find only HDPE, PE tube... and yes, like the above comments, Taping really adds weight to the hoop.

what size? maybe the next batch of Poly Pro i get, you can purchase a naked one off me. be in touch if you're interested.
I would like to get a poly pro Twin Hoops (28 inch).. But i live in New Zealand and it might be to much to send ??.. I Just need the Tubing really so I can make them collapsible ..AnnA from NZ
I went to the irrigation store down the road from me and they said they've never had or even seen polypro tubing (in New Zealand) but if I could find a supplier they could probably order it in. Though it'd cost me a lot, apparently.
yeah shipping will cost you more the actual tubing .. I'm getting some poly pro hoops .. I might have one for sale if you want to know what it like ?? .. AnnA

Hi, just wondering if you ever did find polypro tubing for sale here in NZ or you just bought already made hoops in?

cheers,

Tracy

You wont find it here unless u get the hardware stores to get it in for you .. and then they will put there mark up on it too .. and god knows what that would be (outrageous) LOL ...

better to save and buy overseas (AUS / USA ) ..

I did have 2 polypro hoops for sale on Trademe .. and Twin polypro  hoops too .. BUT there all sold .. I don't know what all the fuss is about them .. I really don't like them too much .. And plus they crack to easy
