Just curious about what every one out there has heard/experienced about/with pregnant hooping? (I'm not pregnant for the record). there's always the "consult your physician" answer but I'm not satisfied with that. what say you mothers with hoops?

I wasn't hooping yet when I was pregnant, but I'd say if you are already an experienced hooper & your pregnancy is normal, it would be safe to continue hooping gently through pregnancy with a light, large, soft hoop. There was a thread about this recently... of course if it ever feels wrong, stop at once, as with any other activity.

Rayna of Hoopnotica hooped through her pregnancy & the company produces a handbook for pregnant hoopers.

"We recommend using our special prenatal hoop, the Preg-O."

BWAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHHA!!
hahahahahaha good one!
I became pregnant at my 1 year anniversary of hooping, so nothing new for me. As this is the 3rd pregnancy, I know what to expect from my body and how to treat it, I listen to my self, so hooping was just very natural to continue in. I stopped for about 2 months at the beginning, because of morning sickness - more like wholeday sickness LOL. Now I am at my 6 months and am still hooping, maybe not as much as before, I get tired quickly, but love it all the same. And plan to do it forever.... would be cool to try to hoop while in labor.
I'm currently 33 (34 tomorrow) weeks pregnant and still hooping. Of course, I asked my doc. before continuing through the pregnancy, but since I've been hooping for almost 3 years, it's really no big deal. For me, some of the balance techniques that I previously enjoyed have become a bit difficult recently but overall it's pretty much the same as before I was pregnant other than the obviuous bump. I have been lucky and had no nausea or exaustion during my pregnancy so far to affect my hooping routine so I hoop almost every day for half an hour and in class every Wednesday for 1.5 hours. When my back is aching I will sometimes hoop...a larger, heavy hoop gives a great massage!

I've found that I have not necessarily needed to switch to a larger or differently weighted hoop. My regular hoop is 35in. but I vary up or down depending on what I feel like.

I definately will be taking my hoop with me to the hospital when I go into labor. (Got permission for that as well.) I'll plan on posting my experience with hooping in labor oncethe time comes.
I am so interested to hear your account of hooping during labor. Plus ogle any cute newborn pics, of course! :D
So am I. I thought Rayna was planning on doing that as well (I saw it in a video blog she did on youtube), but I never heard if she did and what the results were.
38 weeks and still doing some hooping, i have found in the last couple of weeks that my uterus will tighten up if I push for too much for too long at one time.So hooping in small doses these days. With a larger belly now, I avoid waist hooping and work on my upper/lower legs along with shoulder/neck/arm movements. Also an excellent time to practice off the body hooping and flow. My over all experience is know your body and your hooping ability and don't push yourself, it's really not the time while you're pregnant.

:)
wow! Thanks for the feed back every one! Hooping in labour, good god! you are super women!
I wish I had done that. I know that some women dance, or sway around... hip movements feel really good in the beginning, plus it relaxes you.
Just regarding the hip movements - having a big exercise ball and doing pelvic rolling movements, etc. while seated on it - during pregnancy AND labor - was so incredibly helpful and relaxing.
Ha! Thanks for sharing that you aren't with child. When I saw this post by you I was like OMG!! A Baby Babz!
