Thanks for the info. I too noticed that Tapebrothers were outrageous! I got one roll of silver tape from indetitape, but shipping was more than the tape itself. Now I'm looking to buy some gaffer, so this info was definitely helpful.

However, just so you know- Identitape is closed Fridays, Saturdays, & Sundays! They ALSO have a handling charge of $5 if your order is less then $25. I m not a huge fan of Identitape personally. Thanks for keepin a good eye out!

Identi-Tape does have a coupon (that essentially eliminates S&H cost) for hoopers if the order is over $100. I personally always buy tape in bulk, thus never paying for S&H.

It is always more cost effective when buying tape, to buy in bulk, and by bulk I don't mean 3 rolls. Processing, picking, packing and posting takes almost as long for 1 roll of tape as it does for 20, but of course the profit margin is much lower and therefore there is nothing spare to cover that time spent. Hence handling charges for small orders. They do offer a discount for hoopers though (see their web site for that).

Personally I think Identitape are lovely. But then I am biased being their UK distributor. They are such nice people and work so hard and they care about the tape they sell.

When ordering, try experimenting with the size of the order. Weight for parcels is constructed in bands, and so you may be able to add another 3-5 rolls (depending on the type and size of the roll) into the same parcel for the same postage, or perhaps if you took 1 roll off the postage would go down significantly. It's always worth playing around with it. Whatever the price of the tape and postage, you won't get a good deal on 1 roll.

I always buy from identi-tape. We always need metallic and gaffer, and the other sites don't offer the shiny stuff.. I can't justify paying two shipping costs. Plus, the discount on identi-tape is very helpful! I have done the research.. more than once.. and always end up in the same place. The other sites also don't offer all of the gaffer colors.. like teal.. which I always get ; ) My group and I make and sell a lot of hoops though... so this route works best for us.

Amy: the 1/2 gaffer on goodbuyguys is called spike tape. Prices for those range from 3.99-4.39 (depending if they're neon). They also have assortment packs you can purchase that may save a little green for ya.

I agree with you Sue. We always buy in bulk every few months. The shipping total only increases minimally with more tape!

It is good to know they are closed Fridays.. I'll keep that in mind.. just thought it was Sat/Sun.

Adriene, true about Identi-tape..when i do buy from them I make a $100 order, get a discount (by typing in the code) and ordering in bulk. Of course, it costs more, but you end up saving ordering a bunch at once. so good point

Yeah, the $5 handling fee by Identi-Tape I think is such a scam. Seriously, you're going to charge your paying customers for packing the tape into an envelope/box?!?!?! That's BAD customer service if you ask me. I don't plan to buy from the future based upon that alone.

Identi-tape has been the best so far for me as far as service goes. They have long rolls of glitter tape too that I can use for several hoops. The cost for shipping one roll of gaffers was $8. After that they added less than a dollar for each additional roll. So far the only advantage I've found with the others is no minimum order, but the shipping has been about the same.

I buy all my gaff from GBG's. They ship right away and the price is right :-D Their 1/2 tape is also called 'Spike Tape'. I don't know why they named it differently, but it's the same thing, just smaller.

Thanks for posting this Amy. It's nice to know there's other companies out there offering lower prices. I will look into those other companies for sure. I have an order for tape I need to make today anyway. the other issue I've had lately with Identi-tape...as far as vinyl tape goes, is that it's got TOO much adhesive so when I'm taping a hoop, it seems to have lots of glue residue that I have to rub off with my thumb or take some fingernail polish remover to get it off. AND one roll had sections of the roll that were sticky on both sides. I had to cut those sections, throw them away and start taping again...what a waste of tape? I had this happen on more than 1 roll. eerrhh....

ALSO, CHECK EBAY IF YOU JUST WANT 1 ROLL AND DON'T WANT TO PAY CRAZY SHIPPING PRICES ON JUST 1 ROLL.
